Minor thing... who's online

Any way to get the forum stats, bdays and "who's online" on the main forums page as opposed to the Home page? And it's kind of a PIA to have to click to "see more." Come to think of it... I haven't seen the bdays list around anywhere. I'll go look for one, but does it still exist?

ETA: Can't find a today's bdays list anywhere. frown.gif

Another minor thing. In TCS1, when there were links in a post, when you clicked on the link, it opened a new window. I don't know about external links here, but links to other posts, if you click on them, it opens them in the same window rather than opening a new window. I don't know if other people like this, but I prefered it when it opened a new window.

I agree on this too. PIA to have to go to the home page to see who is on-line. Bday's were a big deal too bigwink.gif

Birthdays are on the "to-do list", but probably not a high priority at the moment, as there are more pressing problems for the Huddler team to deal with.

As far as checking out who's online, do you have a red bar at the bottom of every page where it says something like "Currently, there are 82 Active Users (2 Members and 80 Guests)", with "82 Active Users" in white? If so, clicking on the words in white should show you the members (who aren't set to "invisible") online, provided you're logged in.

External links open a new window.

Yes, but links to threads do not. Like I said - minor issue. I know there are more pressing things being addressed.

As to the "who's online," if the info is linked to the white text, how difficult would it be to just include the list so another click isn't required? This site seems to be very "click" and "drop down" window intensive. Obviously I'm not leaving TCS because of it, but it is very annoying, and I'm definitely not the only one who finds it to be so.

As to the birthdays... when discussing the move, we talked about how it's not the platform, it's the cats and the community. Well, we've lost a number of things that made it the community it was. We have the members, the mods, and the cats. But one of the things that made TCS so special was how we interacted, and a large part of that was caring about each other and making people feel special and welcomed. We've lost special altogether - no gifts, no signatures, and now no birthdays. Gifts are out forever. Signatures will be dealt with in the future. I don't know how hard it is to add a list of birthdays, but it was one of the things that made the community as special as it WAS.

dontknow.gif It's not something I'm accustomed to, but clicking the "back" button isn't any more effort than switching windows.

I am so used to using right-click and then opening in a new tab, that I no longer notice whether links open in a new tab/window on their own or not.

Laurie, these are pretty much features of the Huddler platform. It is different from Vbulletin and it does focus more on the main page - since it manages not just the forums but also the articles, reviews and everything else on the site.

Because the replies were added after I edited my post, thought I'd just report the stuff I added.

Laurie, we all have a wish list of things we want to have on here, and Anne is keeping track of it. We had the previous platform for 10 years, so many of those extras were added as we went along. This platform has been up for four days, not ten years and Anne and the Huddler Team are working out the bugs. We have bugs on the moderating end too, not just the ones you have seen. These take precedent over fun things at this point. The system needs to be fully operational and stable before things can be added to it. WE jsut ask that the members have a little patience while the bugs are being worked out.

Fair enough. Thanks, didn't realize there were mod-related bugs on top of everything else.

I do see your point about the birthdays and it is something that's on the table. Karen summed it up well though, priorities is the key word here.

Do keep the feedback coming, it's crucial for our adjustment of the site smile.gif

Thanks Anne. You've asked for the feedback, that's why I'm providing it. smile.gif Again, I'll just note, the title of the thread begins with "Minor thing..." I understand there are priorities.
