Sudden Personality Change?

Thread Starter

We have three cats: Honey, Trixie and Fanny.  Yesterday Honey had to go to the vet because she ate something nasty, but came home with a clean bill of health.  However, the experience seems to have traumatized our youngest cat, Fanny.  She is suddenly terrified of the  other two cats.  She will hiss and growl if she sees them, and if they approach her she turns hysterical and actually screams.  This is shocking to us because up until yesterday, she behaved as if she were their child - cuddling with them, allowing them to bathe her, and playing chase and wrestling very happily together.  I feel terrible that she is so frightened and the other cats seem heart broken that their little buddy is rejecting them.

Could it be the smell of the vet?  Could there be something wrong with Fanny?  How can I solve this problem and restore peace?

my guess would be vet smell. Other posters have said similar things. Maybe separate them for a bit to give the young one a chance to calm down and the smell to go away a bit. She'll come around

Yes, it does sound like you have a sensitive kitty. Knowing this, when you return from the vet with any of them, keep them seperated for the rest of the day, just until their smell is back to normal. We have one like this too. Very simple solution.
