An update on WEN

I love the stuff!

It's been not quite a month since I switched over to WEN for my hair. I started out with the Fig and the Sweet Almond Mint. And then switched over to the POM. I love the Sweet Almond Mint; it gives my hair a lot of volume and shine. I like Fig, but I think it's almost too heavy. I love POM, too, because I like the volume my hair has and how it shines. I'm truly amazed at how my hair is no longer so tangled after I wash it....the comb almost glides down through. There are still one or two tangles that I have to be careful with, but overall, it is impressive.

I also have the replenishing mists, in Fig and in Sweet Almond Mint. Again, I like SAM more so than Fig.

I'm still seeing hair in the tub drain (not as much by far), but we do lose about 100 strands of hair daily, so I don't know if I should be concerned about that or not.

The only time it's been shampooed is when the stylist colored it right after I started using WEN. Since then, no shampoo, only WEN. I have found that I can go at least two days now, sometimes three, without having to wash my hair, which is wonderful. I've used no mousse, no styling products, and only a wee bit of hairspray...I can't go without any hairspray.

I keep reading about how a lot of people have experienced massive hair loss after about six weeks or so of using WEN and that scares me. But if you Google any brand of shampoo with hair loss, everybody complains about it with any shampoo.

But I don't know if I'll keep using it, simply because....well, it's expensive. And even though I don't use anything else in my hair anymore, it's still a bit costly. (I wonder what Santa would say if I asked for a gallon of WEN for Christmas?) I really do like it. And other than the price, I would recommend WEN.

Remember, Sally Beauty has the identical product, at about 1/3 the cost!  It's called HairOne.

Glad you're enjoying the no-poo lifestyle!!!!

Is it as good as WEN?? We have a Sally Beauty at a local mall, so I'll check it out. Thanks!

I've not tried Wen, just the HairOne.  However, from what I've read online, it is the same formula and many have switched.  They have "single use" packets of HairOne at Sally's, so you can try for a couple of bucks!

I have really curly hair and am always looking for something to help with the tangling and dryness. I am going to look into WEN. I also have a Sally beauty supply near me. Will look at the HairOne as well. I am trying to grow out my hair again after a really bad coloring a few years back. Caused so much damage, I had to cut my hair very short. I am always trying to find something to strengthen my hair wave2.gif

I don't think the one on Sally is the same formula... Really don't... As far as I know they have a contract and can't sell, I don't think they would do private label either... Not 100% sure, but willing to bet on it.
I have not tried the one from sally, but I bet if you try Wen, you will see it is not the same.
Wen is awesome stuff, and there is a reason why they are expensive... that stuff is not cheap to produce in the first place. I remember when I first met them in a trade show- their ingredients are first class... Don't know... The owner is friends of a friend of mine, and he does only his brand... As far as I am aware, at least...
Anyways- I knew you'd love it!
Yep, no way to use the small tubes- WAY too expensive! But the gallon last quite a bit though, IMHO, it is the only way to go. My favorite is definitely the sweet almond... Imho the best! I used it for a very long time, and never had hairloss problems... I only don't use now as I use my brand and love the volume at the scalp- but if I run out of it, that's what I am going to go back to, for sure... I miss it!

Well, I couldn't say I have problem hair. It's long and in gentle waves (no ringlets to deal with) and is rarely frizzy. I actually have the opposite problem; my hair is oily, so I have to wash it every day or I look like a ragamuffin. laughing02.gif

Would WEN work for me?

Carolina, I've seen your pictures and I think your hair is gorgeous. You have the kind of hair I'd love to have.

Yes, I do really like WEN.

Katie, I'm not a WEN expert by any stretch, having just started out about a month ago. I would say, though, that Sweet Almond Mint or the POM would probably work the best for your hair; they are both good products for most people. FIG would be too heavy for you, I'm thinking; I'm not sure about the Lavender as I've heard that Lavender is very drying on hair. Go to QVC and then click on Beauty, and then click on WEN in the drop-down menu. Or just go to the WEN website. That's the best way to figure out what would work for you. (Last night on QVC, they had four 16-ounce bottles of cleansing conditioners...one of each scent....for $84, plus shipping. I buy from QVC, but I've also purchased WEN from Ebay when QVC didn't have in stock the POM I was looking for. Right now I'm using POM in a 32-ounce bottle....I really would like to just get the gallon and be done with it.)

I was somebody who simply had to wash her hair every day....I didn't like bed head and I always had a serious bed head in the morning, completely flat and lifeless. I don't anymore. That's the truth. Now, it could just be the WEN or it could just be that I'm no longer using styling creme, mousse and as much hairspray....maybe a combination of both. I don't know. But I can tell you that my hair is in better shape since I started using WEN, And I'm now going two, sometimes three, days without washing.

Nope, I don't have the amazing hair that the WEN models do, the ones you see on the QVC commercials. Not by a long shot. And that's just not going to happen. But it's softer now and I'm not having the breakage from trying to get a comb through all those tangles.

Well, I hate to be the only contrary opinion, but I tried Wen and I didn't like it. I did at first, but after a few weeks, I felt my hair was limp and lifeless. I used it for about 2 months.

I'm sure it depends on the kind of hair you have. Mine is fine, shoulder length, dryish, and not very thick. My hair has a lot of body. But not when using Wen.

And, I thought Wen was ridiculously expensive. I'm not willing to spend $40 a month on that. I'd much sooner spend that money on cat toys for the shelter, and buy drug store shampoo.
