I don't ever remember Turtle being scared of anything!! During our naptime this morning it started to rain very gently. I could hardly hear it, BUT Turtle sat straight up and bolted out of the bed and under it!! What's that all about????
So I got out of the bed and laid on the floor next to it. We were right at eye level with each other.I reached out my hand and she started doing that sucking/nibble thing on my fingers.I guess she finds comfort in this.
My sweet little girl eventually came out from her hiding place, but another problem arose....I COULDN'T GET UP!!!!!
I had to reach for the closest object near me ( which was her feather on a stick toy) and use it to pull my cellphone off my dresser!! I had to call one of my friends to come over and help me get my butt up off the floor!! In the meantime, Turtle, seeing me with her toy; gets all excited and starts pouncing on it while I'm holding it!!
My friend had to contact the landlord so he could bring a key to my apartment over.OMG!!!:shame: My friend got into the apartment and found me on the bedroom floor. "What'cha doing Cheryl? I thought you were suppose to be on bedrest for 1 week. Doesn't that mean you have to be IN the bed??"
OK the crisis has ended but I'm still embarassed. I'm just very thankful I was dressed for this!!
So how's your morning going?????????? :seesaw:

You're overdoing it - rest up! It's a good thing you could get to your phone.

Perhaps there was a thunderstorm while you were in the hospital, and Turtle thinks rain=thunder.

OMG yes, thank goodness you were dressed :lol3:. My Wendall and Walden are afraid of the rain too. Especially when it first begins. Wendall is worse than Walden about it and will run downstairs to hide for a little bit. Who knows why certain things frighten them. If only they could talk :D. Glad you are alright and back upright :bigthumb: :hugs:

Just think  - it could have been more embarrassing!

Glad all is well -- just take things easy and don't overdo anything.   You still have a wonderful nurse ---- but just wish for no more rain!!!

Turtle's turn-around has been nothing short of a miracle, Cheryl.  I remember you writing when you first got her how afraid and stand-offish she was.  I can't believe she nibbled your fingers while she was hiding; my cats would have certainly scratched me if I'd stuck my hand in their hiding place.

Now listen, young lady, bedrest does NOT mean lying on the floor next to the bed.
Behave yourself, dear; we don't want you to land back in the hospital.  (geez, I hope you know I"m just messing with you!)

Feel better soon!

You and Turtle were simply meant to be together.....she's your baby, Cheryl. I'm so glad that it's all worked out so well for both of you. That girl is a little darling and such a sweetie.

And now? Go to bed. Go directly to bed. Do not pass GO. Do not collect $200. Bed! Or at least take it easy for awhile.

Ditto what Winchester said! You should consider writing the story of Turtle..it's becoming remarkable.  I love that once calmed by you, she was thinking you wanted to play with her...so obvious she loves you!

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
Well, I'm having trouble getting the multiquote thing to work, but :yeah: to Libby74, Winchester AND Pat! :lol3: Bed rest means IN bed, not next to it! Thank goodness you were dressed and able to get the cellphone.

But how amazingly sweet is Turtle, sucking on your fingers? :heart3:

...and if I recall correctly, she tries to save you from the bath LOL. Of course the rain scares her! :lol3: VIBES for Turtle!

And Cheryl? PLEASE take care and get your rest IN the bed! :hugs: :hugs: :hugs:

I could see trouble coming when you said you got down on the floor with her.  Please take it easy and get some much needed rest so you can recover fully and be the meowmy Turtle needs.  She is just so darned cute!!

Nurse Turtle? Oh, Nurse Turtle? Take care of your Meowmie!

Cheryl, have you talked with Turtle's previous owner at all about her and how much she's changed? I think he'd be happy to know that she's doing so well with you.....in a bittersweet kind of way.

(I'm glad you're in bed....now stay there! For awhile anyway.)

Aw that is so cute!  Except for you getting stuck on the floor of course! ;o)  You should have told your friend you just needed a change of scenery!

Oh man, what a story!! Definitely a good thing you were able to get the cell phone AND that you were dressed .
I hope you've been resting IN bed since then and that Turtle's calmed down and back to being your nurse again.

Cheryl, just checking in to see how you're doing? Is nurse Turtle doing a better job of keeping you IN bed?
Yes, Thank God. She had a temporary lapse in her duties that day, didn't she. She's back on the job now.

He called me on my birthday and we talked about Turtle. Of course I had to brag about my little girl. It was hard to tell over the phone how he was feeling about it, but I'm sure he's happy that she's happy. He might even be a little jealous about our connection with each other, but he could have had that connection too if he would have wanted to work at it, don't you think?

I don't know..maybe Turtle and I were meant to find each other and my friend was just the middle-man.
