How do I get a picture by my name? (Questions about avatars)

For TCS Huddler

Change Your Avatar

Your avatar is the picture associated with your user account. Your avatar (or picture) will follow you around the community next to your forum posts to help other users identify you. Feel free to upload your own image according to the terms of service.

Navigate to your profile by clicking on the "My Profile" link.
Underneath your existing avatar, there is a "Replace Image" button.
Click the "Replace Image" button to pull up the Image tool. A popup will appear.
You can choose to upload an image from your desktop or import an image from an external URL.
When you are done, click "OK." Your profile will reload to display your new avatar.

For those who want to make a rotating avatar or album cover, this tool is useful. It's best to use square images. One way of saving the image you make to your computer is to download it to your (temporary) Downloads file, then use Irfanview (free software) to open it from that file, and Move to to save it in another file. Not all photo programs allow you to save .gif files, but that one does.

These instructions aren't working for me.  The avatar I'm using right now is an old picture of my RB cat Snowball.  It got blurry when the avatars were enlarged on the new platform so it really does need to be replaced.  Does the new TCS have a selection of avatars we can pick from?

New members have a choice of a few, but I don't know how that works with members who already have their own avatars. I just see an option to replace old ones with another uploaded image, so we'll have to find out how that works. Do you have any clear photographs of Snowball or Sweetie that could be made into an avatar?

ETA: At the moment, only new registrations are offered a choice of standard forum avatars.

I did a search and found two of Snowball - would either of these do for a new avatar? I tried to get the red out of his eyes.

What happened to TCS? My computer was down for 3 weeks and when I came back, everything had changed. My avatar that I have had since I was allowed to have one is gone, as well as gifts? I still love TCS, but I don't care for the changes at all.

We've moved to a new platform, which is explained here: Upgrading The Site - Official Announcement

The FAQ will help you familiarize yourself with most of the changes made. You can upload a new avatar on your Community Profile page.

Gifts, points and the arcade aren't supported on this platform. You'll find a number of threads discussing the changes in this forum and the Lounge.
