Hey everybody!!

Haven't posted in a while, but now am in need for some more advice. This morning I found 3 kittens under my father-in-laws shed.

About 10 months ago I first posted here about a cat that his neighbor had traped. Her name is Luna, and she was mostly feral when I brought her into my home. Now she is a totally different cat. I can pet her and have been for a while now and she loves it!!!
She even gets in my lap now!! I still have yet to pick her up though.

Anyway back to the kittens. They are about 7 weeks old I think. Keep in mind this is NOT a cat friendly neighborhood and the only reason I have Luna is because she was trapped by mean neighbor who decided to get rid of the ferals living there.

So my father-in-law also was not so happy to come home to see me holding 1kitten and setting out food and water for them. He is a not cat friendly as well.

I start to panic a little because father-in-law does not want them under his shed and I don't even want to think about what would happen if mean neighbor were to see them.

So I didn't have many options on what to do.

There is a pet store in my town that will sometimes take in stray kittens. I call them and of course they want to know age, if they look sick, etc. I send some pics and they say bring them in, we can probably take them.

It took a bit to catch 2 of them as they are a lot more shy than the little gray one, but I got them all.

The store is going to take them, but can't for another week because of age.

So I now have them in my bathroom with a litter box, food, water, a pet carrier that is covered and some toys.

The lady at the pet store also gave them worm medicine and also sent me home with lots of food.

So my question is that I don't think they know how to use a litter box and they are also in need of a bath because they did have some accidents in the carrier and maybe have fleas.

Luna just started using the box from day 1. I haven't had any trouble with her.

Oh wait, my daughter just came in and said one of them used the box but didn't cover it up. Also this is the more friendly of the bunch.

Any advice would be great. I didn't see a momma cat and really haven't seen too many cats since neighbor started trapping them 10 months ago.

I just couldn't leave them. I hope I did the right thing by taking them.

Hope everyone is well and thanks!!!

Looks like they are going to be beautiful cats.

They need a lot of handling. They should be treated immediately for fleas (you don't want them in the house, I know), bathed (before flea treatment), and fed as good a food as you can afford.

But they need to be handled a lot. It may be hard at first, because they are essentially wild animals that think you are going to eat them.

My daughter has been with them since she has been home from school and already the two that were really shy are crawling all over her. These kittens are definately going to be very friendly, especially after this week. I just hope we can part with them all.

Is it ok to use a flea bath on them or will it make them sick. I need to do something tonight if I can, but I'm not sure what to use. Like I said they did have accidents in the carrier and are also just really dirty.

Also I do know 1 has used the litter box, maybe 2, but they are not covering it up. I did also mix dirt in with the litter. Well, just now another used the litter box and didn't cover and also got some poo in its tail. Is there anything I can do to help them learn to cover it up. All of them have been in the box and I've dug around with their paws to see if it helps. So far no luck.

Thanks for any advice!!!

They are SOOOO cute. What lucky little babies that you rescued them and took them in. You can use diluted Dawn dishwashing soap and add 1/8 tsp. of Anise extract (will kill the fleas). Just a little dishwasing soap to 16 oz. of water mixed up very well. Then add the Anise Extract and shake it up. You can put a drop of mineral oil is their eyes to keep the soap from stinging their little eyes. Of course, try to keep the soap away from their face, but if they have fleas, the fleas will run to the head. So don't wet them down first. Just put the mixture around their neck right away and then work down from there. Will stun the fleas immediately and you can wash them down the drain. IF they even have fleas

You can pick up some Dr. Elsey's Kitten Attract litter and mix in the dirt. Just go and cover up their mess and they will quickly pick up on that. They are using the box, so that is good. If they don't cover, don't worry about that now. They will all use the box now anyway since one or two have gone in it.

They are really, really sweet. Hope they find furrever homes quickly

Just a quick update about the kittens.

They are doing great!!!
They are all using the litterbox!!!

All are playing and eating both dry and soft kitten food.

When I first brought them home, I thought it was going to be my daughter who was going

to have a hard time letting go of all of them, but now it seems to be my hubby who wants

to keep them all!!  I really wish we could, but know that we just really can't.
  I hope they

all get great loving homes.

We have named them.  Leo is the orange one and is a little boy!! The 2 two little girls are

Chloey and Zooey!  They are so adorable and have all come around great. They all come out to

greet us whenever they hear the bathroom door open.  They are playing

and beginning to develop their own personalities.

I am in love with them all.

Update:

Little Leo found a new home today and I am soooooo happy.  He went to

a well-known friend and will be in kitty heaven!!

Now only 1 more home to find for Zooey.  Little Chloe has won our hearts

and I don't think she will be going anywhere even though we really shouldn't

keep her.  I will not be taking Zooey to the pet store.  I'm fairly confident

I'll be able to find a home for her soon.

I'll post some more pics later on!!

I am so happy for Leo.  He has gone to a good home and will be loved.

Thanks!
