As most of you know I've been involved in trapping and rescue for pets still displaced from the Joplin, MO tornado on May 22nd.

You may remember the picture I posted of Whirley, the grey tabby. We've been looking for this boy every week for the last five months, and now he is finally home! He was, of course, just a few blocks away, hanging out and getting fed by a very nice woman. We had been through that area hundreds of times, as well as Whirley's owner going several times a week.

There are weeks where we get frustrated and question ourselves, wondering if its time to give up, wondering why we keep going, keep trying.

This is why

It's so nice to hear people are being reunited with their pets, and that others have cared for lost pets.

Just an update on Whirley :)

He is doing great back with his dad and kitty-siblings! After one day and night of hiding and being scared, once he reunited with his buddy Waldo, he settled right back in to the spoiled life of a loved indoor kitty. Hopefully he can put those terrifying last five months of living outdoors after the tornado behind him.

Here is Whirley on the bed with his best buddy Waldo and their sister Widget.

I'll bet human and felines are deliriously happy to be reunited! Thanks for the update - it gives you a warm, fuzzy feeling to hear about/see a happy ending.

Where my cats are
Oh that just brings me happy tears!!  I'm so happy when I hear about the furbabies you have been able to help get home again!

My Dad had a cat who had shown up at a friend of his' house one summer.  He was the sweetest lovebug and had been front paw declawed.  So we knew he belonged to someone.  But they never found his owner and they live out in the country.  So Dad took him home after several months.  He was like Whirly describes; about being more muscular.  Also his paws were big and wide.  My Step-dad had a cat that returned itself to the wild when he was young.  He saw the cat a few times after (he still recognized his name, but he was clearly happy living in the woods) and he said the same about him.  He was more muscular and his paws had gotten bigger, etc.
