Several years ago, DH and I built an addition onto our house. While the construction workers were building it, I walked up on them talking in hushed tones. They grew slient. I asked them what they were talking about and finally one of them told me the room was haunted. I didn't go into details with them, but I thought nothing more about it. We never really used the room for much, except storage, though it's probably the prettiest room in the house. Recently, we made a bedroom back there so my mom could stay while she was recovering from surgery. She loved it.
DH and I both have the flu. We keep each other awake with our coughing. I slept on the sofa in the living room Friday night and froze. Yesterday, Daisy and I went back to the new bedroom and took a nap. I got the best sleep I've had since I've been sick, maybe in years even. So I made a plan to sleep there last night.
I was propped up in bed reading when I heard Speck "brr" to announce himself. He'd been sound asleep in his cat bed in the living room when I'd last seen him. He just stared at me. I talked to him, invited him to join me. He looked under the bed and walked all around it. I thought he'd left, but discovered that he was still in the room with me, over by the fireplace. I got up to turn off the light and he started rubbing against my legs and then walked toward the door. He's not a rubbing against your legs kind of cat, he's a real loner, so I thought this was odd. He kept on, almost like he was insisting I follow him. He'd walk a little way, then turn around to make sure I was following. When we got close to the door, he ran to it and looked back at me. The way he was acting kind of creeped me out. I gave up decided to sleep in the regular guest room. After that, he was fine. I heard him playing with his favorite toy in the hall.
The question is, why do you think Speck didn't want me to sleep in that room? He couldn't have made his position much clearer last night if he'd been able to talk.
