Do you like your name? If you could change it, what would you change it to?

HEE HEE... I did change my name in High School... My birth name is Laurie Anne. I never liked the name Laurie when I was younger. In high school, I started going with the name Lauren. Lauren - Laurieanne, similar I thought. BUT now, for the past few years I have wanted to go back to my birth name . My family has always called my LaurieAnne and still does. My neices and nephews call me Auntie L. Because they don't know if it should be Aunt Lauren or Aunt Laurie. .

Great question, and I do know alot of people who have changed their name. Or even go by their middle name instead of the first name.

My name is Lana, and it's a name you don't hear all that often. I only regret that for some strange reason I was never given a middle name -- I always felt that I was the only person who didn't have a middle name. But my late brother didn't have a middle name either. Guess our parents never thought of it.

I would never change my name, if it was good enough for my Mom it's good enough for me.

I don't really like my name (Justin). Most people just call me JR or Junior.

I've known a lot of Justins, and I don't think I ever met one that liked his name.

I used to HATE my name. Way back when I was born, you just didn't hear the name Libby. To make matters worse, my legal name is Mary Elizabeth Anne; imagine trying to explain that to a teacher when a new school year rolled around.
Now, I'm quite happy with my name and I don't think I'd change it. I hate it, however, when people shorten it to "Lib".

I love my name. When I was a teenager, I really wanted to add a name, as I don´t have a middle name. Here, I guess it is equally common for people to have a middle name, and not to, maybe more common to have a middle name the last years (for new babies that is).
My name is the Icelandic version of Cecilia, which I also really love, so when I am abroad, and people can't pronounce or write my name right, I don't mind using the english version.
Here it is very common to name a child after a relative, especially the grandparents. I was named after my grandmother, who was named after her mother, who was named after her mother and so on.....I am the 11th one, and the "rule" was that the oldest daughter would be named after her mother, so apart from my dad, who was not named after his mother , there are 11 in a row of mother-daughters! My grandmother did have one girl, who has her name and has both a daugher and a granddaughter with the same name. My aunt moved to Norway at the age of 18, so the line of mothers-daughters has moved to Norway, except for my (apart for my dad, that is!) Do you think I am making this too complicated?
If I ever have a daughter, I would give her my name, with a middle name though, I guess. I love family traditions like this!

I like my name; I'm pretty content with it. Growing up, some of my family called me by my full name (I guess that's a Southern thing): Lydia Nichole. As I got older, most of them shortened it to "Lydia", and other friends called me "Nikki" (There were several "Lydia's" at my school when I was younger, so I went by "Nikki" a lot.) I answer to either Lydia or Nikki.

I used to always want to change my name growing up. I loved the names Samantha, Heather, Megan, and Amanda.

Now I like my name - its not as common as a lot of other names . I went to school with one other Tara up until 4th grade, then I was the only one. Now I work with 2 other Taras One of them even bought an '11 mustang 2 weeks after me!

I don't like my first name. My middle name is okay and I'd rather go by that. I don't know what name I would pick, I like Lily but that's my cat's name.

I would just add one little letter to my name to make it 'normal'. Seriously who in the world names a girl Tyler...its just wrong. I would add an A and make it Tayler. Most people who are first introduced to me think thats my name anyways so I dont bother correcting them half the time unless Df does it. Alot of the guys df works with just call me his old lady.

I like Tyler....it's cute and it's different.

(beginning of rant) I would be infuriated if anybody called me "old lady". Stuff like that goes through me like a knife. Years ago, when I was little, my uncle always called my aunt "old woman". If he was sitting on the porch and wanted a drink, he'd call, "Hey, old woman, get me a drink" or "Hey, old woman, do...." whatever he wanted done. God, I hated that. And I finally told him to stop it; I might have been ten years old. I hated it then and I still hate it now.

And when I worked at IP (International Paper), a lot of the guys would call their wives "my old lady". Not in front of me, though, because I always told them about it and they stopped doing it around me....it always set me off. I would never, ever call my husband "my old man" and I don't appreciate being called his "old woman" or "his old lady". It's rude, it's condescending and it's not funny at all. (end of rant)

But I digress....sorry. My name is Pamela Sue and it's OK, I guess. I was born at Camp LeJeune in North Carolina and my mother wanted to call me Janet LaJeune. Thank goodness my dad put his food down. Janet LaJeune sounds like a stripper's name or something! Ick.
