7 month old female pooping in the corner

I have 2 cats. One male that is nearly 2 yrs old and a younger female that's between 7 & 8 months old. I have not gotten the female spayed yet and was planning so in the next month or so. Recently she has started to poop in the corner behind the tv. probably the most inconvenient spot in the room. I noticed on maybe 1 or 2 occasions there was a bit of red blood in her stool, but it's not an every time thing. It seems to correlate when I have my girlfriend here or I stay at her place. I'm not sure if it's the physical stress of being close to coming into heat or if she's upset cuz i'm not always home every night of the week.

Any ideas?

I would say get her spayed ASAP. Since the "normal" way to attract a male cat for mating is urine spraying. But "inappropriate" deification can also be how she is trying to find a male cat for mating.

However, it could be due to a medical condition, so a trip to a veterinarian you trust would be good. Since the blood maybe something major or could simply be from worms. However, that can only be determined by a licensed veterinarian.

Most definitely get her spayed ASAP. While I don't think that's contributing to the problem, it's a good thing for your kitty and you.

How many boxes do you have? Ideally, you should have one more box than cats, so two cats = 3 boxes. Also, has anything changed recently in your home? A new routine, new people coming in/out, change in litter, or anything like that? It could be stress caused by a change in the home. You could get some Feliway diffusers and start using those to see if they help. Also, you can try Cat Attract litter or litter additive to see if that helps.

Wherever she's pooping, you need to clean with an enzymatic cleaner very thoroughly so the spot doesn't smell like her litter box.

ETA: One other thing, if you've seen a bit of blood, it could be from straining and she might be constipated. She may have come to associate the litter box with pain so may be avoiding the box. She needs to have a fecal test done by the vet to rule out worms, though. You can try adding some plain canned pumpkin and wet food to her diet to help decrease the chance of constipation.

I have 2 litter boxes and with it being a 2 bedroom apt I don't have many options for litter box locations. I got a new roommate about 3 months ago and I've been with my girlfriend for 4 months now so I would imagine she's adjusted to that by now. I've been using a pet stain remover that has enzymes in it. I was thinking about buying a calming collar and the Cat Attract litter. I've had a lot of customers talk about their success with the Cat Attract.

Guess I'll just have to give it all a shot and go from there

****The consistency of her stool isn't a hard stool. Its an even consistency. Not a soft serve, but definitely not hard.
