Ok, I will try to make this short, since I'm typing on my phone on my lunch break. But the story couldn't wait! Yesterday, a friend was headed up from san Diego, staying til Sat morning. She was going to arrive earlier than I expected so I raced home, cleaned up a bit and then when I was done and she wasn't here yet, I decided to fill the bird bath. Neighbor cat Mister was hanging out in the yard so I was chatting with him too. I turned on the hose, and grey cat Genever somehow was by the flower bushes at the back of the yard, got freaked by the hose and took off and over the fence! I didn't see her sneak outside with me! Our yard has a chain link fence at the back, with an easement for city trucks and then the storm channel. So I hopped over the fence with my dress, tights and nice shoes on still from work, and scratched my left thigh and ripped the tights. But i was going after my baby! Then she ran back out of the easement and into the corner neighbors yard under all their plants. Skipping some bits, I ran back to my house to jump back over the fence, scratched my left thigh again and ripped my dress! Ran out front, my friend was at the front door and I said my cat got out and I ran over to the neighbors to look for her. Then bf came home, my friend said I was looking for a cat and thought mister was ours, and bf said thays not our cat, went inside......

... saw GENEVER on the kitchen table, so he thought Dorothy got out but saw her in the bedroom, came back out while I was running back to get a flashlight, and bf says What's wrong? I tell him G got out, he says No, she's here! And I just cried hysterically.

There is apparently a new neighborhood grey cat! So all that and ny babygirl was home the whole time. So I have about an 8 inch gash and some others on the back of my thigh. Hurts to walk and sit, but ill be ok. I didn't care at the time, I had to find my Gcat! Jeez. Of course now im mad about the dress, but oh well. What an ordeal though. I am exhausted today from it all. But my babies are safe and at home.

Aw, you poor thing! How odd that another grey cat was in your yard. Maybe he's a friend of Mister's and thought he'd have better luck courting one of your girls...
I hope your leg heals up soon, but what a relief it must have been to see G-cat safe at home!

OMG of course you were freaked! MY heart started racing as soon as you said Gcat had gotten out and was scared by the hose.
But thank goodness bf came home when he did - or who knows what you would have gone through to get "your" baby back home!

WHAT A DAY!!!!!

I can just imagine how you must have looked jumping over that fence in your work clothes.
Oh well, it's all worth it for your baby! Even though it wasn't even Genever.
Good thing she's safe and sound. Hope your legs feel better soon!

Gosh, sorry again about all the typos! It's not the easiest typing that much on a phone.

Yeah, I'm sure people driving by or looking out their windows thought I was a mad lady running around and scaling fences.
And adrenaline really does give you superpowers I think. I don't think I could get over that fence now! Or maybe I could, as the top links are all bent now.
I was still pumped up yet exhausted at the same time hours later. I had to go to class shortly after the 'incident', and met BF and friends at a brewpub downtown afterwards, and most people had heard the story, and I was just drained. I told people at work the story on Friday, and they thought I was nuts.

I'm mad about the dress though, since I ripped it not even for my Genever! I might be able to make it into a shirt, we'll see. If not, then I'll probably keep it for the fabric, for patches or cat toys or something.

But man, I think I'm still getting over it! Thinking about it afterwards, I really don't think Genever would run from me like that. But then, you never know what a cat will do when they get freaked out I guess. I kind of hope I don't see that grey cat again, because that's going to keep freaking me out!
