I'm going to be completly honest, I'm scared

First forum I was ever on was called POTN (pets on the net) it was a Canadian forum for pet lovers, it was a great forum. The admin decided to move servers, promised everything would do smoothly and it was awful, the whole thing crashed and we lost EVERYTHING. Had to start over from scratch. Alot of the members didn't wanna start over and left the site, eventually the admin sold the site and the new owners turned it into something weird.

Then the second site I was on was a Boxer forum (dogs) and same thing....they moved servers and everything went down hill from there. Then I found my way here, I LOVE it and now Im scared

It's OK, admitting it is the first step.
We're all scared a bit.

One thing that I have seen that has helped me not be as worried about that is in the test forum ALL threads, pics, PM's, etc. moved. To tell you the truth, we are probably in more danger right now of that happening on this platform than we will be during the move. I am sure they will be doing extensive backups before they move in case there are any problems. Believe me, I'm not saying that there won't be glitches. My husband is a computer guy so I am well aware of glitches popping up. There are times where there is a lot of swearing going on over here due to glitches. The good news is that the Huddler people have experience doing this so any glitches you see will hopefully be quite minor and will get worked out quickly.

This will be the second big forum move for me this year. A German e-cigarette forum I belong to, with over 8,000 very active members, switched servers around Easter. I was surprised how smoothly it went and hope it will be the same with TCS.

Some people grumbled about the changes at first, but soon adjusted. They're really happy with how fast everything is now (and that the energy is "green", which was the main reason for the move). The funniest thing was that a lot of people had begged for a live chat before the move, and now they complain because it's rarely used and there are too many arguments when it is.

Sure, there will be glitches, but we survived the big crash of 2004, when the site was down for quite a while and months of posts were lost, so we'll get through this.

Only hours to go, and YES, as Karen noted, I am nervous and excited too! I have learned to trust our partners at Huddler - they're a great bunch of people (I've actually met with them face to face) and extremely dedicated to making this work. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly and we'll be seeing each other on a much better platform real soon!

The date will be November 1st - tomorrow. The idea is to start during the morning (San Francisco time) and finish as soon as possible. Up to 24 hours is the official timeline. And yes, there will be downtime and the appropriate message will appear here. While we're gone - you can check for updates on our Facebook page -

As noted above - everything is retained

I've had my share of server moves and they are always daunting.
That said, we have a team of engineers doing this move, and I can't think of a better, safer mode of work. They are highly experienced, specifically in this exact type of conversion, and it's been tested once, successfully, in the sandbox forum. So, fingers crossed, everything will be ok

I am really really excited about this. I think we this move will also open up many new possibilities for this site to grow and expand. Thank you everyone for your ongoing support - I really appreciate it!

. I don't even FB because I don't have time for FB AND TCS
. I choose TCS over FB. Glad to know I can get any updates tomorrow with the above link. I wrote the link down so I will have it. I was going to copy it into my PM box, then realized
I won't have a PM box to go to and find the above link
. Silly me

I hate changes! Maybe that's why I'm married to the same man all these years! Seriously though, I hope the change is an easy one and no problems. Don't forget - we're all "cat people" --- and cats are known to be set in their ways and don't adjust to change!

I'm at a point in my life where change is a good thing!
Bring it on!!

After having gone through the Big Crash of 2004 (my goodness - was it really that long ago??), I have no doubt that this one will be a breeze.
Hey - this one is planned, right?
We've switched servers quite a few times before and always come out the other side.

This one promises to be even better! Changes are scary but UPGRADES are exciting!
This is a definite UPGRADE!!!

Besides, no matter what platform or server TCS is on...it's the people that make this site great.
And the people won't have to do anything but chew our fingernails for (up to) 24 hours while the transition team does their thing. Then we just have to show up again. No problem!

I will miss the gifts...
I sent out my last ones tonight... I realized I had more points than I thought.
I'll also miss my hideous, hard on the eyes, Red Tabbies skin. I hate it, but I love it all the same. But on to newer, better things!
