Well, I guess I'm going to get my old life back now, since currently I spend WAY too many hours in the arcade playing games. Now what am I going to do?????
I may have to take a class or something. I wonder if there's some sort of place for addicted game players to go for withdrawals.

There will be site awards, but they're quite different from the gifts and awarded by the site and not by members to each other. We may run contests where members nominate each other though (open to ideas here!)

The platform does have that ability but we're not switching it on to begin with. We may in the future, but it will probably be limited to certain usergroups and not available to everyone. The reason for that is we want to make sure it does not get abused without having to watch over it or moderate it actively.

Everything that's been logged into the database stays in the database. For the less technically inclined people reading my answer here, I'll add that you will still need to log in with your username and password on your first visit, so that the new platform can cookie you properly.

Thank you very much for the answer
.

I will volunteer to monitor the live chat portion, since there is no chance anyone would want me to use it
, wait then why would you let me moderate it
.

I think a live chat would be awesome. The idea of having it only for certain usergroups is a good idea. Maybe Super Cats and over? Only two more days now... I am ready! I took screenshots of my gifts.

We had livechat on my forum and the bandwidth usage was pretty high; got rid of it.

I rather have less banners than costly tools like that.

Hi Anne,

Do you know what time it will be exactly at the time of the switch over and will there be any down time while uploading the files and such?

So happy about the spell check! Spelling problems are a pet peeve (for myself, it doesn't bother me a bit when other people do it).

Thanks for keeping us posted. IMHO, this is the best forum online, with the nicest people.

A round of applause for Anne, the mods, the mentors, and members who make it all possible.

I'm worried how I'll recognize everyone without seeing their sigs or the kitty pics next to username as that's how I usually remember who is who.

No more arcade?!!!

What am I going to do?
I love the arcade, I spend a lot of time there, I'm really going to miss it.

I will have to find something else to do with my time now.

What a shame the gifts are going. It's one of the best things in this forum (not counting the people
). Losing the sigs is a big disappointment too.

A forum is, first and foremost, about the people of course, but there are always other certain things that make it special. Siggies is one, and in TCS, the gifts feature was another. Those are both features that make things a bit more personal, create a feeling of community, in my opinion. I belong to a couple of forums where there are no avatars and no signatures. And it just doesn't feel as friendly.

<sigh>

I agree with you, but remember, no pics in sigs is only temporary.

Will miss gifts though!!

I know, I love TCS 1 and will miss it terribly. I have only been on TCS for ten months and it surprisingly so, has become so very important to me in so many ways. I think WE WILL make TCS 2 just as warm, cozy and fuzzy. You can put album cover (even rotating, if you like) pictures in the siggy line section under your siggy wording.
. Three across. They are small, but still something we can all see with each and every post. AND siggy's might come back,
down the road, so I am saving mine to my computer just in case
On TCS 2 we can get to know eachother's siggy still by our album covers that are filled with photos by just clicking on the cover!

We can make rotating avatars with pictures of each of our cats, so you will still quickly be able to identify who is who (if they choose that kind of avatar
)

OMG, I can't believe this slipped my mind!

Will threads/posts/PMs be preserved or is the whole site starting from scratch?
