Kitten digs too much in and out of litter tray

I have a norwegian forest kitten 4 months. He is just too enthusiastic about digging his litter tray as well as any other hard surfaces around the tray as he does his business. Not a big problem but it increases the chances he will uncover his faeces and put it all over his feet. What should I do?

Accidents happen. My cats have accidently stood in theirs a couple of times but it hasn't been on purpose because cats are known for being so clean. Just have non perfumed baby wipes to hand if it happens.

My F3 Savannah did what you described a lot when he was younger. He still does, at a year and three months. But not quite as bad .

These are the two litter boxes I use:http://www.google.com/products/catal...ed=0CG4Q8gIwAg and http://0.tqn.com/d/cats/1/0/f/J/placethebox.jpg.

They both helped a lot with the "excessive" mess. I use non-clumping cat litter. I fill each box with about 10lbs of litter a week and scoop daily.
