has a character, Kitty Softpaws, who was declawed. From the NY Times online review of the movie -

"The tale, revolving around Puss, a popular character first introduced in “Shrek 2,†imagines this vain, spoiled, swashbuckler (voiced by Antonio Banderas) with delusions of grandeur, colliding with Humpty Dumpty, the Goose That Laid the Golden Eggs, Jack and Jill, and Mother Goose herself. Puss is given a tentative romantic interest in the feisty and seductive Kitty Softpaws (Salma Hayek), who first appears in disguise and eventually becomes his sidekick and partner in crime. Kittyâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]s tragedy is that she has been declawed, but the movie makes little of it. Despite some perky quasi-flamenco dance numbers, their teamwork never quite soars into Astaire-Rogers heaven."

Can anyone remember another movie that even mentions declawing?

Well, it IS a movie about cats
. Which raises a question, though. . .isn't it set in the past, like before surgery was possible? Of course, it's fairy-tale world so maybe the past isn't really the past or whatever. I do hope they present the de-clawing as her tragedy, even if they "don't make much of it". Might help, at least a little.

Disney's movie Bolt had a cat called Mittens who was declawed and dumped on the street by her owners. She keeps threatening and scaring pigeons telling she will use her claws on them if they don't bring her food, but later in the movie she reveals to the dog Bolt that she's declawed (well, she talks in third person but means herself). Here's the short clip of her telling Bolt what humans are like: youtube

In Finnish there is no word for 'declawing', so in the dubbed version the cat just speaks about a clawless cat. My 7 year old niece had no clue what it was about and how a cat can be clawless (declawing is illegal here, and honestly majority of people here have never even heard of it).

I want to see that movie soo bad. LOL I love the Shrek movies and Puss in Boots was always my favorite. I love the part where in the commercials he says "You dare do the litter box at me"...hilarious.

The kids want to see it. I kind of do too.

Jasper- though he's not a tabby cat, does have white spots on his back feet that make him look like he has boots on. And he's a guy. And he's declawed (not my doing- we got him 6 months ago and the lady who had him before us had to have it done and SHE wasn't happy about it either).

He's not very brave though. The family calls him "Wuss in Boots"

I don't even have any kids and I want to see it
. Not sure if I can justify paying to see it though (since no kids) Might have to wait for it to hit HBO.

My cousin has a cat that looks EXACTLY like Puss. . .I mean, if it were a live-action film he could play him, that's how much he looks like him. I wish I had a picture. His name is Boots, of course. Except his name is really Botitas, because my cousin speaks Spanish. But I think that's also what Puss is called in the Spanish dubbing of Shrek.

I loved Puss in Shrek and I am sure to ensure the movie more. The way Puss would make that cute face and then suddenly beat up all the soldiers. Not to forget Antonio Banderas, he is the best, I canâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji]t think of anyone better as an actor as Antonio Banderas. I see a hint of ‘Mask of Zorroâ€[emoji]8482[/emoji] when he voices Puss.
