Prozac-ing the Wonder Whizzer

Hello, some of you may remember my "wonder whizzing" posts about Aya and her bad habit of peeing on my bed, sofa etc... Well after worrying endlessly about what moving her cross planet would do to her behavior, we had 6 whizz-free mos!

Until 3 weeks ago. she's been transforming herself into a happy wild cat outdoors (daytime only). Until the weather got really cold. And the neighborhood bully cat started coming round and chasing them into the house. Both cats really don't like him. We went back to our old whizing ways, on the sofas and my folks' bed -bad move!

After consulting with one of the vets at work we were all in agreement that her whizzing is 100% behavior/anxiety related and 0% urinary physical problems (a urinanalysis confirmed). So, we're trying kitty prozac in liquid form that mixes undetectably with tuna.

My brother knows another cat that was so crazy he had to be prozac-ed, but not for whizzing issues, more agression related. Has anyone tried prosac-ing kitty for whizzing? Did it work? The meds came from a special compounding pharmacy and weren't cheap about 43 dollars for 2 mos.

There was a recent thread about Prozac and spraying

I have a cat who's been on Prozac for about 3 years for inappropriate urination. I tried the liquid compound with tuna flavoring added, but it doesn't matter what you mix Prozac with, it's horribly bitter and cats can taste it. He takes his pill in a Pill Pocket with no problem.

My Ziggy is on prozac. We get 10mg tablets and I cut them and put them in a tiny "meatball" of raw meat. The prescription of 30 tablets lasts me about 5-6 mos for $10. Compounding pharmacy meds are terribly expensive so I recommend trying tablets if you can get them down her.

Good luck.
