Hi From Olive & I

Hi,
Found your site when researching various topics online.

I love finding out about all things cats, so it seems I have found a wonderful place to learn and share my love of cats.

I found and adopted my cat Olive (Ollie) about 2 years ago. She was one of a gazillion strays we had roaming around outside my work. (Sadly after many inquires I could not find any rescues willing to trap and fix any of these cats so we constantly had new babies being born) Anyways its kind of a long story, but it was love at fist sight and she has been the BEST pet ever!

I used to love both but favored dogs. I still love dogs (any dog lovers? I actually work at a doggie daycare!), but Olive has definitely made me into a dog AND cat lover don't think I could pick one over the other now! She seems to be the best of both worlds! Her personality is somewhat like a dog, enjoys cuddling and attention. But other times (as now) she is content to take a nap by my feet or in her bed). She is always at my front door to greet me when I get home, and she has only had a few accidents! Plus she never smells like dog!

Hmm... she is about 2 years old. The vet said she is a domestic medium hair. She is a gorgeous all black, smaller kitty. She is starting to get some darker brown/red on her chest. Is this typical for black cats? or do they mostly stay all black?

Anyways sorry this turned out to be so long. I'll have to figure out how to post/link pictures of her. However as I'm sure those of you with all black kitties know, pictures never seem to do them justice!

When you have time, we would love to see photo's of your cat and dog(s). Sharing stories is also good too .

Thanks for the welcome. I used to be particularly fond of Tortie's or color points, but her solid black silky fur has really grown on me! And I've heard that solid black cats are hard to adopt from shelters because of the whole bad luck superstition, so I'm really glad I picked her, plus compared to all the other cats I know, she is such a winner!

That is really interesting about the rusting. It looks pretty neat. She had really cool stripe/spots when she was a kitten, but turned out solid black.

Welcome to TCS! I'm a dog lover, too, and still sort of favor dogs. At the moment, I can't have one, but I've been loving the wonderful cats I have now.

Olive is so cute! The picture of her sleeping with her tongue sticking out is too funny.

What a cutie! The little tongue hanging out in that one picture is killing me!

I'm a dog lover too! Actually, my dog was the first thing I bought when I graduated. I don't think I could ever pick between cats or dogs- I love them both!

Welcome to this forum. I have a black kittie too. There just isn't enough light to see them.

I actually got Olive because I missed my dog so much when I went away for school and didn't have the time or housing for a dog. I still love my dog, but Olive has definitely made a good replacement. I hope to one day be able to have them both with me, but until then, Olive warms my heart every day!

I love the pictures of her with her tongue out! She doesn't do that any more tho.... oh well. I can't wait to check out the pictures of all your cuties. The new site is really spiffy!
