Halloween isn't a big deal in the UK, but we celebrate something else on November 5th with lots of fireworks. At least, people who don't work with animals celebrate. Some of us spend the day making sure every animal in sight is indoors and safe, and then we spend the evening dealing with animals that have been injured by people who think it's cool to tie fireworks to their tails.

So, in America you guys celebrate this time of year by dressing up and mingling with the community, reinforcing the local community spirit, giving sweets to children and generally having safe and harmless fun. And in the UK we give children high explosives.

I so need to emigrate...

I am here at work.....

Here's some of my Witch Bottle collection that I made for displaying in my office:

In a corner of my office....

And some of them on my desk....

I didn't get much done at home. A black cat wizard cookie jar and some Witch Bottles on the hutch in the kitchen. That's about it. We don't get Halloweeners, but Rick always buys a bag of peanut butter cups and throws it in the freezer. He loves frozen PB cups.

ETA: If you look closely at the top picture, you can find Edgar (black rat), Allen (black crow) and Poe (black bat). I put them out about three years ago when I first started making Witch Bottles. One of my GFs named them....and once something is named, it becomes a permanent part of the family. I never took them back down and they've been in my office ever since.

No kids ever come to our house.
We were invited to a Halloween party, but I'm still not sure if I want to go or not.

Yes!

We are having a big bonfire/cookout at our house this weekend. Costumes optional. I got a cute little "drag strip kittens' outfit - zips up like a racer uniform but has a short little skirt on it. The garters have checkered flag bows. Rob is being Abe Lincoln from "Whitest Kids You Know" skits. Oysters, clams, shrimp, cheddar braughts, queso, chips, alcohol ... good times to be had. My friend and I are also doing a doubles pole show for anyone who wants to check it out.

I also might wear my cat ear headband to add to the "kitten" part of the costume and make it more unique since it turns out my pole student ordered the same costume as me!
I'll probably just wear the cat ear headband to work on Monday with my light up black cat shirt again.

I love Halloween
