Sorry I just need to vent a little. Today my landlords came by, together, to tell me to move my couch so that the pipes by the window won't freeze. I told them I moved it out and they said that wasn't enough. I was very agreeable and said I'd move the couch away (which I did). I decided to let them know that my bf is moving in...their response "Oh uh...we're trying to get away from that." I'm thinking away from what?! You're married...you live together why do I have to be alone. Then after some awkward discussion they agreed and wouldn't raise the rent (which really didn't matter to me) because he'll only be here 2 weeks at a time. Now after that encounter I'm terrified to ask them about a second cat. Isis is coming with my boyfriend, but I'm so scared they're gonna say no and now I just don't know what to do!

I'm pretty sure there are other tenants who have significant others and multiple cats. Maybe it's just a rough day and I'll talk to them about it later.

Thanks for listening

I think when people hear boyfriend they think immature relationship that will result in drama. I hear it a bit from some places when I mention I live with my boyfriend.
Or maybe its because his name is not on the lease as well? Maybe they have had some legal problems because of that in the past or something?

Think it made it easier then some of my friends but then again we were looking in a different area... I also snuck in alot more cats then the 2 limit lol...but in end nothing was said and i got full deposit back

Wow, I don't understand how being single or living with you boyfriend is any of your landlord's business
.
I have lived in many places and have never once paid rent based on that. The rent on the apartment is the rent, ant that's that. Of course there is a limit of people to live in it.... But 2? Sounds like she is imposing her beliefs into your life, and that's not her place. As far as the cats, take a look at your contract - see what's in there... You might have to pay another pet deposit...

Thanks for the support. I would have said fiance if I thought it would make a different. These landlords didn't want to rent to me until I told them I was a pharmacist so I think they have a really squewed idea of young people. We're looking at renting a house so we probably won't be there for more than 2 or 3 months. My lease says pets on approval...so it's pretty open ended. Which makes me nervous. Sucks that I'm on the ground floor too so sneaking in a cat is a bit more difficult because of the windows. Either way both the cat and the bf are coming.
