I know how hard it is when you lose a much loved pet, I wrote this poem quite a few years ago. I was written after the loss of one of my dogs, I also have cats. Rainbow's End can refer to any pet. Hope you all like it.

Hi everyone
I posted my poem Rainbow's End in the Crossing the bridge forum but it came through as an attachment so I thought some of you might like to see it without have to open an attachment so I am going to cut and paste it onto this message, I hope you like it, I wrote it after the loss of one of my pets. Although it was written after the loss of a dog it can easily refer to any pet with the change of just one word

Rainbows' End

Goodbye dear friend you've set me free
From any pain and misery
Of aching joints and failing heart
I know it's time for us to part
You made that choice to let me go
My time has come, this I know
Long and hard you fought, you tried
Oh dear friend I know you've cried
There are some fights that can't be fought
Old age is one, youth can't be bought
No pills, no cures, for passing years
Our eyes do dim, as do our ears
No magic wand can e'er bring back
That precious thing we both do lack
The will to live, to stand and fight
There is no wrong; there is no right
In meadows green I will run
To you, I know I was a son
A dog I was, not a child
Now I'm free, I can run wild
That bond between us will always stay
Even though I'm far away
'Til day is done for you I'll wait
Just outside of heavens gate
My guide has come to lead me home
Where in green fields I'm free to roam
My aches have gone, my ills they mend
In that place called Rainbows' End

A well-written and heartfelt poem.

Just a warning, though, folks. Word documents can contain viruses and malware, so scan any such download before you open it. This one scanned OK with two different programs, so it should be OK.

So beautiful - it brought tears to my eyes remembering my Rainbow Angels (all 3 - Boots, BJ and Ali)

Thank you for your response to my poem "Rainbow's End" I am glad it has made you feel better, that is exactly the reason why I wrote it, if you wish to you can download a copy and print it off for when you are feeling down and unsure about your decision which was the right one to let your much loved pet go.
