I just came inside after being gone for scarcely ten minutes. As I shut the door behind me, I saw Ralph and several of the other cats watching me cautiously from the far end of the apartment. I called to them in reassurance, "It's just me, guys." and darned if Ralph didn't come galloping toward me, rear up to put his front paws on my thigh and head butt and face rub my outstretched hand. *sniff*
Around 3:00 this morning, he crept up on my pillow and nestled down very quietly with his nose against the top of my shoulder, his whiskers tickling my neck and his cheek against mine. ♥
I feel for this cat like I never have for a furchild, and he clearly has a rare capacity for returning and demonstrating his own affection.
