A cat lost for two months since it went missing from a baggage center at John F. Kennedy Airport has been found safe.

American Airlines reports that the feline, known as Jack the Cat, was found in a customs room and was taken to a veterinarian. A family friend of the owner told NBC New York that the cat was discovered after it fell from a ceiling tile.

I'm soooooo glad they found Jack. Hope he gets a 1st class trip to California, he's earned it! Poor baby!

That's AWESOME news!!! I remember worrying about this kitty....I wonder how he survived all this time and who fed him.
He's apparently in critical condition, being monitored very closely and being fed through a tube. He was de-hydrated and malnourished, so I don't think he ate that much.

They said on the news that the next few days are critical to his survival.

Come on, Jack! We're rooting for you.

Jack the cat may be out of the customs room, but he isn't out of the woods.

Tons of vibes going out to Jack!

That poor baby! I can't even begin to imagine how afraid he was with all of those loud noises, and no one to love him and give him food and water

I've been following this story and hope Jack is ok. Last I heard was that there was a 50/50 chance. I hope and pray that he makes it. Poor baby has been through enough already.

I am so glad that they found him finally! I don't know if I could have waited that long to find out!

"Jack the Cat, a feline who achieved nationwide fame after he escaped an American Airlines pet carrier and was lost for two months, remains in critical condition, his vet said Friday."

This was the best news I'd heard that day, as I had been following the search for Jack on Facebook... the poor guy has been through so much. And even though the airline supposedly placed food and water in a couple locations... it doesn't appear that Jack found them. :vi bes: get better Jack and get home to your family.

And now that Karen is on her way to the airport, we can tell you... she's been with him all weekend!!! (We were keeping it quiet for Jack... he needs rest, not cameras!!!) Keep the thoughts and prayers coming... it's working!!!! If everything continues the way it's going now, he'll be leaving the hospital in a week or so... woot woot!!!

Big thanks to Magnolia Bennet for ripping this pic out of Blue Pearl's press release... here's the latest photo of Jack!!! He looks closer to his usual big fluffy self... but we've still got a ways to go before he's on his way home to Karen, Barry & Milly. Keep the good thoughts and prayers coming!!!

I'm worried sick about this poor boy! I'm so glad that he's improving. He still looks so ragged though :(

I sure hope the air port is picking up the tab for that boy's medical bills!!

I read that American Airlines is paying all his vet bills, as well as transport for his owner to and from California.

Jack went to the Rainbow Bridge today.

From FB:

He was with Karen yesterday, and his condition was worsening. He was treated overnight, and she (and I) both had extensive conversations with the vets at Blue Pearl regarding his condition. Jack had extensive wounds on the back of his body, and the wounds were unable to heal because his skin had deteriorated due to the malnutrition that occurred while he was lost. Despite antibiotics, the infections were worsening, and his skin was continuing to deteriorate. He needed surgery to treat the wounds, but there was not enough available skin to close the wounds after the surgery. The vet compared his skin condition to having severe burns over 50-60% of his body. The vet was very clear that she had conferred with every possible doctor regarding options for Jack, but none of them left him with a substantial chance of survival and all of them involved him suffering. Jack had been through so much, and the last thing anyone wanted was for him to suffer more. Jack was bathed in love and crossed over just a few minutes ago.

Oh no!  frown.gif  Poor, poor baby.  I feel so sad about this, even though I know he's not in pain anymore, and it was the right decision.  He was a fighter.  He can play at the Rainbow Bridge now.  RIP, beautiful baby.

OH how awful!   It looked so good for a while and we were all pulling for him.

Poor baby ---- but now he is at Rainbow Bridge with all the other kitties and not suffering anymore.

Sad outcome to what looked like a recovery story.

I'm so sad!
