Hi Everyone! I just joined tonight after visiting this site a few times. I have 2 kitties, Esme (8yrs young) and Shumba (4 years young). We have had Esme for about 6 months now and Shumba for only about 3 weeks. We've had kitties before (when living with parents, years ago), but we decided to adopt our cuties this year.

Thanks! Esme has quite an obsession with open drawers.. lol. If I open a drawer in another room, she is running for it. We are still learning all of his quirks.

We are still in the introductory phase of bringing him home, so I'm really hoping they will begin to get along more.

We have been having a discussion for a few days now on whether or not Shumba is a good fit for our home, and we have decided, as much as both love him, that it would be best for him and our home if we bring him back to the shelter. Some may have a difference in opinion, which I respect, but I also ask that our decision be respected. I used to the volunteer at the shelter and I know they are a wonderful shelter, as well as a no-kill shelter and will find him a good home.

As much as we ADORE him, he is a bully to our resident cat and she is terrified to come out and her appetite has greatly reduced since having him. He doesn't let her eat and even when we put him in the other room, she is so much on edge that she will not pay much attention to it. Then, he will charge at her while she is using the litter box. Plus many other issues. Also, just to add, we have followed all guidelines of introducing cats (did an introduction and then a re-introduction) and followed all the tips from the cat behaviorist at the shelter.

I am TRULY going to miss the handsome guy, but this was our decision. Unfortunately, I think we did not really fit her personality, activity levels, and other needs with him. So I am hoping one day, we can find a great fit for her.
