Hi all, I am looking for some advice, guidance and reassurance about my new cat.

I live alone in a flat and work mon-Friday 8am - 5:30pm. My cat is female, 10 months old, has previously had a litter of 5 kittens and us now spayed. I adopted her from the RSPCA and she has been with me since Friday. (3days)

I spent the entire weekend in with her and confined us to half the flat, I wanted her to get settled in before exposing her to all of the apartment. She has been great with finding the litter box, and gas been sleeping on my bed with me.

Today is the first day I left her on her own. I left her with lots if toys, a scratch post and I hid treats around the part of the flat she has access to.

When I got in she seemed fine, I decided to open her up to the other part of the flat for her to ex

The post sent before I'd finished.

Anyway, I let her explore the other areas but have now shut it off for night time, I guess I am just worried that she'll loose her bearings sonar taking my time with letting her have full access to everywhere.

I am a bit worried that she might be bored or lonely, she seemed to like exploring the other part of the flat but started to meow when I went out of the room. this worried me that she might not like being alone.

Help, advice and guidance on indoor cats will be greatly received.

Thanks

She's in a new situation; you're in a new situation. Both of you will take a little while to adjust. This is an adult cat, so she probably won't have the boredom problem kittens would. In a few weeks, you'll wonder why you worried, and she'll wonder where you were so long before you brought her home and made her happy.

Adult cats, and especially females who have had a litter of kittens, can be fairly territorial, so she needs to learn where everything is and she needs to discover there are no other cats there.

If you want to provide her entertainment, provide a place where she can (safely) watch the outdoors.

Hello,

I just recently adopted a kitten and had the same worry (I posted a thread in the Cat Behavior section last week) but everyone here provided me with lots of information and made me feel a lot better about it.

When I leave for work I open the curtains in my living room and put my computer chair against the bed room window, that way he can see all the outdoor activity when I'm away. Now whenever I come home from work he's sitting in the window. If you are able to do anything like that, it seems to help greatly! I also leave a radio on (suggestions I also got from this site) to provide some chatter while he's alone.

I'm sure in a few days your new cat will be getting to know the lay of your place and will be all good
