Today is the day!!! cynder goes in tonight at 4:30pm my time to spend a quiet evening at the vets office and tomorrow will be getting neutered.. I must say it's going to be awfully quiet around here tonight for sure.. I hope my baby boy will be ok and surgery goes well... lots of vibes please. And it will be weird looking at his backside and not seeing 2 furry little testicles in between his legs.. This is my first male cat ever so i will actually see the difference..

Good luck -- I'm sure he won't even know the difference!

Good luck to Cynder, the time has come.....!!!!!!

Depending on how the surgery is done, you may not see a big difference.

Aww! I was such a wreck after dropping Mooch and Noodles off to be spayed I took a wrong turn on my way home! My friend called me on my cell and I was like "All I see is corn!!"

Praying his surgery goes well and you both have a peaceful evening!

I'm sure he won't even care they are gone Lots of vibes that the surgery goes well and that the recovery is quick

Tazzie had his op almost three weeks ago. I was worried about him all day. When he came home he was sooooo hyper. He ran from toy to toy to toy, acted like he was ADHD. He paid a lot of attention to the "area" , grooming-wise, for a few days. All is good though!

Instead of a mangina, if they do it right, they can leave poof balls there so it provides the illusion. They just won't jingle when he walks anymore.

Good vibes to him!! My old roommates male cat was fixed while I was living there and when he got home from the vet he was just a hyper and playful as always.

WOW! Taz's op was only $36.00, plus $10.00 for the pain meds. and $15.00 for the rabies shot that I told them not to give him (grrr!)

Hope he is feeling all right. Give him a chin scritch from me.

Cynder

It's awful leaving them there. No matter what it's for, it's awful.

Hope Cynder is home now and doing well. When Percy went to be neutered, he came back the same night and played with Momma. The vet told me he could go right back to normal. Apparently, just like with humans, the male surgery is not nearly as bad as the female version!

I wouldn't give it to him unless he shows clear signs of pain, which isn't likely. Some say metacam is a one-time-in-a-lifetime medication.

I would not use metacam on a cat, with the exception of "end of life nothing to lose circumstances", ever. It's just not worth the risk, there are plenty of other safer pain meds, if needed, though it doesn't sound like Cynder needs any.

Glad he's home and happy!

The metacam injection that is used during surgical procedures is the once in a life time medication. The oral medication metacam is not approved for use in cats in the USA. It says right on the package do not use in cats.

I think i will skip the metacam, if its only used for pain then i think its safe to say i can skip this part as cynder does not seem to be in any pain though he is definatly acting different. he has played straight out in his water fountain for the past 40 min, water every where right now, he has never done that at all..He seems to enjoy dipping his paws all the way in and scooping it out lol
