I am frustrated!!! I have to use a sattelite tv service because we dont get cable here....a mere 2 miles from from their headquarters. Eh...Well when we signed up for service we paid over $300 to get it installed and stuff. No biggie we had saved the money for this purpose and new it would be a bit expensive. Well they had a promotion running and since we were lacking one crucial point for this promotion to work we explained that at this moment we wanted to sign up for the promotion while we could and so that way when we replaced our tv we could then get the HD/DVR receiver..we were told no problem we will switch them when the time comes we just needed to add the extra $10 HD package. Easy peasy lemon squeezy right..

Yeah NOTTTT!

The icing on the problems we have had happened today. They want over $500 to switch out our reciever. No thanks..thats just wrong. Its like wallet robbery...we get treated better by our cell phone company..heck we get treated better by the flipping gas stations!! This is ridiculous.

We had a problem with them before because I made sure that df asked every person he talked to and we even went into the one sales store to speak to someone in person about this. There are certain channels that we both wanted my biggest was making sure I had Bravo..I love me housewives. LOL He wanted the Speed channel. Every single person we spoke to said the package we wanted had all those channels so thats the one we got. I even had it in black and white on the channel lister mabobber thing. After a month all of a sudden my channels went away so I contacted the company...It was a promotion. I told them flat out. Im looking at a paper printed by YOUR company stating that the channels that disappeared are on my package. They had no record of that. So I then went and had to add the package that was about $25 more than the one we got. Now this.

I sent them an email listing out my problems and what the situation is and flat out said. I cant wait for my contract to finish because I would lay money down that their competitor would treat us better even with their rising prices. I dont need a price freeze, Id rather have someone honor their word instead of lying to customers. We should have listened to the other people who switched from this one to the other company.

I have a gut feeling that Df will be getting a phone call from them, its his number on the account.

Ugh Im frustrated. Its one thing for something to be mixed up or confused from company to customer. Its another thing to flat out lie to someone.

Wow.....that's terrible. $500? OMG!

When we first moved out to where we are, we couldn't get cable. But being on the hill, we were able to receive a few stations, just from being on the hill. Thankfully the cable eventually did come out through and we're on it. But during the early years (I'm talking about 20 years ago), our reception was terrible. I finally called and said, "Look, you either get out here and fix this or we're changing over to a dish." They came out the very next day and ran new underground lines. It's really nice and we have no complaints (other than we think the bill is way too high for what we get....we have cable internet, too, so we needed at least one converter box because that was the package deal). We're over $100 now a month and that's without any of the premium channels. But it would be difficult for me to give up cable internet at this point....I really hated dial-up. And Verizon won't come out here for DSL.

You have a good idea of where I live. Im right up the road from Sunbury vet clinic. The cable company is literally....RIGHT THERE! We cant get anything. We have ZERO internet service because everyone says there are not enough people on our road to make it worth while to install. But its not just my road, its the main road that our road connects to, its the two roads behind us. If they added all those roads together it would be worth it.
We have had petitions going to these companies for 3 yrs. They say every year that if they get so many people to agree to sign up they will bring the service here but every year we get the people to sign up and they dont bring the service to us.

Im just ridiculously disappointed that they want to do stuff like this. I mean really. Its one thing if we were calling and whining and moaning that they have a new customer promotiont that we want. But this is (to me) a legit lack of customer service. I could see them saying well you dont qualify but I did my research before I contacted them and we definately meet all the requirements for the free upgrade. Not to mention we went thru the process of covering out bases beforehand. I just feel cheated like I went thru the process of making sure I did something right and instead Im getting hosed.

This flipping bites. Im grumpy now..good thing I have a buttload of wood to stack so I can throw that around and be all snippy and grumpy at the wood rather than calling them and yelling at them which is what I want to do.

That is crazy. You shouldn't have to put up with this. They must be doing it because they've gotten away with it in the past. Shame on them!!

I'm sooo glad we were able to keep cable tv here; even if it's expensive too. My neighbors have the big tv antenna's in their yards because it wasn't always available here. I didn't want satellite because my friend had it a few years ago and it always cut out in the wind....right at the crucial point in a movie or show.
Plus I love my cable internet too!
We looked at a house not 5 miles from here and they didn't have cable there yet. From what I saw at one job; the DSL can be no better for service. My company spent months fighting to get DSL for us with them giving us multiple excuses why we weren't getting it, what they had to do...etc. Till we discovered that the other company in the building already HAD DSL service. Yeah suddenly it was no issue. Apparently the left hand had no idea what the right hand had done years ago? It still amazes me.

Is the $500 to switch the receiver the cost of the HD receiver? We had to pay $500 for our HD PVR when we switched from having the basic receiver (which had cost us $99). We also had the option to rent one for $25 per month.

You're better off with cable internet, it's faster than DSL, I had that but it wasn't that fast. I also pay over $100 monthly for cable, internet and that also includes telehphone (land line). I can call anywhere and not get charged for it, it's all on the one bill. That's why I rarely use my cell anymore, that's only for emergencies or when I'm in the car.

Nope its $500 to rent a receiver from them. So one lump charge plus an addition onto our bill, plus the extra ten dollars (which we knew about to add) for the HD channels.

I got an email back from them basically saying nothing. It was a giant email that literally spewed a bunch of words equaling NOTHING! That just made it worse and made me even more livid about the situation. So Im firing off another one and if this doesnt answer the questions then I will go for a phone call which I really dont want to do because when I get frustrated I have a tendancy to get very snippy very quickly. I have zero tolerance for nonsense, especially when it comes to things Im already paying out the ying yang for.
