A while back, I bought a pair of boots cheap. Cowboy boots, you know? But I hated the color, which was a gosh-awful dark red and black. Last week I finally got around to removing the finish on them and re-dying them black. They look good, but they need a few coats of polish.

So...where do you find black polish? I thought I had some, but no luck. WalMart has it in a "leather care package" contain both brown and black polish, rags, brushes, etc. I didn't find any at Target. I guess I need to find a few shoe stores and check them.

I guess no one polishes shoes or boots any more!

My grocery store had it last time my father needed it. Try a mens shoe/clothing store.

I buy shoe polish for my husbands dress shoes. I usually get it at Payless when they have a BOGO sale. I get a pair of shoes and get the polish for 50% off.

Though they are rare, you may be able to find it at a shoe repair shop.

If you have a horse tack store around you you can probably find it there. Most riding boots are black leather, they sell the cleaner and the polish for them.

Our KMart has a good selection of shoe polishes, in the shoe dept. Our WalMart does, too, for that matter-also in the shoe dept.
Good luck finding what you want.

Trapped in the catroom! ;o)
Id definately check a mens department store especially one that sells dress shoes. I know my brothers dad has to have it for his work shoes and he actually gets his thru his uniform company. I would assume most big shoe stores would carry it, places like Tractor Supply might.

In addition to the places suggested here, I'd suggest some store that caters to the military and/or police, or a military surplus store.

Try Safeway. I'm sure I've seen black shoe polish there.

Also, maybe the reason they sell it in packages with brown is so that if your boots are a darker brown, you can mix the black and brown together to get the colour closer to the colour of your boots?

For what it's worth, I tried a number of shoe stores yesterday. No luck so far. I didn't try the grocery stores.

KMart closed all of its stores in this area. Closest one I know of is Sweetwater, 250 miles west of here. No Safeways in the area, either.

Try an Equine Tack Store, if you have any near you. They carry black polish for boots !!!!! That is where I got my polish for my riding boots, etc.

I use black polish for DH's work shoes, my own cowboy boots, my Harley boots, my horse's saddle, reins and my riding boots as well.

I buy the polish, (and leather conditioner) at the local Red Wing shoe store, but I've also seen it in Walmart and the many Tack shops out here.
