OMG head on!!!!

is it normal for a 6 month old kitten to run head on into things and misjudge jumping and fall.. cynder has been doing this latley and i mean it's bad.. last night he ran head on into the dresser and stunned himself for a few seconds, and he just went to jump on the speaker and bailed bad.. What is up with this.. he is going to the vet monday for his neutering,should i ask about it...

IME, kittens have no brakes and faulty steering and that comes and goes with growth spurts; a combination of a cat attack and growth spurt can cause head bonks, falling off the chair they managed a week earlier, tumbles down stairs, running into another cat, etc. If his sight is fine, he should be ok. By all means, though ask the vet

I think you should ask. It doesn't sound right, especially since it has recently started. You may catch something early.

When we first got Aoibhe, I noticed she did a little head bob thing when she was looking at things. I asked the vet about it and the vet ended up sending us to a specialist who diagnosed cataracts. We now are taking preventative measures so she doesn't get glaucoma because of the cataracts. (We didn't do surgery because she can still see and would have to be confined and in a collar for 6 weeks - not something I want to do with a hyperactive cat).

Even the delicate, dainty, suave and smooth cat is occasionally a klutz. And Cynder is about at the age where he will be "growing into" his adult body.

Depends on how often. Wesley has been careless before when very excited, but generally speaking both have been quite dextrous and skilled during their kittenhood.

So if the accidents are just when in "spaz mode", I'd write it off. If its misjudgment of distance and the like more frequently, I'd ask a vet.

We have this problem with Buddy...but it started immediately after he was neutered. He runs face first into walls and door frames, falls off things and cannot jump up and sit on the window ledge like Parker can. We think he suffered some damage from the anesthesia. Aside from that and his odd tail wagging, he is fine.

I'd ask the vet though, just to be safe.

I can say my F3 Savannah Loki was a HUGE spastic creature till about a year old. He still has a scar on his noise from the first night I got him, over a year ago. The way he did this was from running out of his crate, right into a wall . He used to fall off all types of furniture, misjudge distances and fall splat onto wood floors.

Also he NEVER landed on his feet until he was about ten months old. Loki never broke a bone or even acted injured. I credit the lack of injury to luck and good a strong body. The lack of noticing his falls, lack of "I.Q" .

I call Herc my anti cat. He can jump but not to the heights that the rest can and he has fallen or rolled off many surfaces. Hes a perfectly happy healthy cat but just a wee bit lacking in the cat grace area.
