Question of the Day - Saturday, October 22nd

Good morning everyone!

Halloween is just around the corner.

Do you dress your cats up for occasions such as Halloween and Christmas?

I don't. Mine would tear me apart if I tried something like that

The closest I came to dressing Maia up is when she was a kitten......I went to a Yankees game and bought a teddy bear with a removable NY Yankees shirt. I put it on her and she went completely limp, fell over as if paralyzed! Never do that to her again

Never! They're beautiful as they are, whatever the occasion.

Cats no they would probably eat off my toes in my sleep. Now Franklin however is a totally different story. I dress that dog up all the time and he LOVES IT! I have never seen a dog prance around as much as him when hes dressed up. One year Im going to get him a devil costume and a hot dog costume and dress him up for Halloween. I did make him a santa hat for Christmas this year because we are thinking about doing Christmas cards and hes the only one who would pose.

I would if they would let me. But none of them would . However, mine like yours would make me look like Swiss cheese.

No, I like to keep my hands unshredded.

No I don't.

No, Autumn would never let me dress her but she doesn't need a costume to prove she is a little devil, lol.

Nope. I'd be left lying in bloody ribbons on the floor!

I value my digits and limbs way too much to try! And as others have said, they're beautiful as they are---no costumes needed.

I wouldn't dare.

This is the first Halloween I put costumes on my cats. I did take some pictures and will post them on the Halloween picture thread. They did not really like the costumes

I love cosplay and making costumes, but for people only. Don't dress up the cats 'cause then we would have miserable cats!

I have been known to put hats on them for pictures, but they come off immediately after I'm done.
I have pretty laid back girls, but I have no dubt that they'd shred me if I tried clothes on them.

Not really, I will put bandanas on them that's it.
No I haven't tried dressing Gracie up...Hmmmmm
post #18 of 22
No!!! I prefer the skin to be left on my body
post #19 of 22
No. It's just not something I would do to them.

I'm not sure about the cats, but the dogs are definitely getting dressed up since I already have their costumes (having a party at my house). Mykelti will be a bumble bee, Macy will be a cow, and Ranger will be a pumpkin!

Not the cat, but he will get a christmas themed collar. With jingle bells....

My dogs dress up and trick or treat with the kids, every year. Missy is a pretty princess, and this year, we got Angel a new bumble bee costume.

Sorry guys, I don't get it. These are animals, not toys.

With a bit of luck they will repay your kindness with their affection. But please don't anthropomorphise and think they like dressing up for Haloween or Christmas. They're bloody cats. They are domesticated killing machines, not children. You are pandering to your own needs, not the welfare of the animals.

Our job is to home and protect them, not remove their dignity. If you want to dress something up, buy a doll.

I'm aware that this is a personal opinion and genuinely don't intend to make anyone angry - so please forgive my strong opinions on this issue, but I have had to cut clothes off a dead cat to hand it back to a grieving owner in the past when it died fighting to get out of them and strangled. Everything in me wanted to scream at the owner "what did you think would happen" but I just bit my tongue. I've also treated a cat for burns when it ran through a fire in a panic and it's "clothes" burst into flame.

If you really, really feel the need to do it, then don't let the animal out of your sight for an instant.
