You got it.
We all just love TCS and are just passionate about it and change is hard on us "cat" people
at least on me, but I will roll with the changes. So, here's hoping siggy's will return soon after launching.
and thanks for The Cat Site in the first place.

I'm pretty sure they're only like the bigger avatars on here.

I frequent a number of forums. One is running way past obsolete software. It is also the most secure of the forums I see on a regular basis. It hasn't had a spammer get in in several years. Another forum is run by a guy who always goes for the newest software. He doesn't get spammers, either...but he does, on a regular basis, make changes that causes people's software to quit working with his forum software. Happened to me a while back, and the only way I could get going again was by upgrading to a FireFox beta release.

I use Microsoft Office Picture Manager, it works fast and is very easy. Each time I upload a photo to my computer, I go directly to Microsoft and resize my photo before posting it on any forum.

I was so happy with the siggy that you guys did for me and will miss it. Too bad we won't have them. I'm not that computer literate either and I was so pleased with myself when I was able to put the siggy you did in my posts. Also Photobucket was helpful in showing me how to resize pictures. Hey- I'm getting too old to learn things all over again -- PLEASE make it easy for us!

I agree 100%!! I may disappear from time to time, but many people here I consider my extended family (does that make me pathetic?) I don't care what kind of format we have as long as we still have TCS.

Thank you everyone for your words of support!

I do have a request though. Those of you who were invited to be our "guinea pigs", if you could please -
1. Avoid sending out the link and password to the beta site. There was a reason why we limited the number of users to begin with... If anyone absolutely must gain access for some reason, please PM me or one of our mods about this and we'll see what we can do.

2. Please try not to discuss features here. The reason for that is this - part of what we're doing in the sandbox is testing features and settings. What you see there is not necessarily what we'll end up having. There's no point in spreading information which may become entirely false. This will be a confusing time for us all, and I think misinforming people, with the best of intentions, I know, is not going to help.

In fact, I may just start a new announcement in the lounge about this - it is important.

Again, folks, I welcome all questions, suggestions and feedback. Please address myself or a moderator with them - that would be your best source for answers
Just please let's try and keep this organized and productive - thanks so much!

Remember, you people ARE the site. The platform is just that, a platform.

Anne, I have a question. With the new format does that mean we will all be required to reregister or will all of our current stuff like screen names, passwords etc be going over to the new format? Also kinda stupid but what about points and the whole gifts thing? Im ok if its not there but its kinda fun.

*As for the cooking stuff not being in the lounge. Im ok with that however cooking does not equal reading because we who post cooking stuff are not posting cookbooks. Maybe just a small sub forum in the lounge like the reading and pictures thread. Then that gives all of us who do like the cooking threads a place where we can post recipes, ask questions, etc without having to filter thru whos reading what and in turn those who dont want to read cooking threads can completely avoid them...even if its just as easy to not click on the thread to read it.

Current usernames, passwords, and all the posts you ever made will be ready for you on the new platform.

Points and gifts will no longer be supported, I'm afraid

As for the cooking threads - definitely something to consider, but let's make the move first and then see.

Thanks Anne. I just wanted to know that when we do eventually make the change if reregistering was something we would need to do. Only because knowing me...Id forget. Thanks for answering my question!

Well, I'm fingers crossed for tapatalk or forumrunner integration. Apart from that I don't really care. The membership makes the community, the technology just enables it. so thanks to the owners / moderation team. I'm a mod on several forums and I know how much of your time it can take up for so little appreciation.

I've also migrated a forum with several thousand members, and several million posts from one platform to another, and across operating systems and database types. Good luck with that one

I'm looking forward to whatever we will have!

As for the cooking threads, well, I agree about having a separate place for recipes because those are things we don't want to lose....recipes are important and it would be great to be able to find a certain recipe without a lot of hassle.

But as for regular cooking threads such as those that I post from time to time (the home made vanilla thread, the Forward spice thread, for example), no need to have those separately; they're fine in the Lounge. For those who don't like them, don't read them....it's a simple as that. What's next? A separate tv section so that people who don't watch tv don't have to deal with posts? A separate sports section for people who don't like sports? A separate section for games? It can go on and on.

Let's just move and get all the bugs worked out! It's exciting! (and kinda scary, too)

I still think all cooking posts should be separate. We have to go elsewhere to post our cat pics and to tech talk for answers so I really do think cooking posts should be posted on it's own. That way all you who cook can talk together and not take up space on the CAT LOUNGE unless of course you are talking about CAT FOOD. Only my humble opinion. I never open cooking posts but they are still taking up space.

In order to have a separate forum for something there would have to be enough threads to justify a forum. In the past week there have been 7 question of the day threads, 5 cooking threads, 4 about TV shows and 2 about the weather. Five threads in a week really isn't that many. There were approximately 95 threads started in the past week, so that means 5.2 percent were cooking threads. I knew being a Math major for two years in college would come in handy some day!

Obviously Cat Food would be discussed in the Nutrition Forum, and the Cat Lounge is the designated place for all topics not covered in the other forums.
"This is the place to relax and get to know each other. You can tell us about yourself, relax and discuss topics that don't fall into other forum categories."

There are quite a few threads in the Cat Lounge that don't interest me. I just don't click on them. Five threads in a week (less than one a day) shouldn't be too hard to avoid.

Glad you were a Math major because I was never good at it
Anyway we'll just have to wait and see what changes occur.

I for one would not like to see YouTube or Facebook stuff here. Nor Twitter, Tweets or other nonsense.
