want to get my kitten a buddy

Hi everyone. I have a male kitten who's about 3 months old now, and he's super wild, more than any cat I've ever known. He wants to play all the time, and I feel bad when I leave him at home all day to work because he seems to get lonely and I think getting another kitty would help keep him company and release his energy. My brother has kittens that are 7 weeks old right now and would be 8 weeks by the next time I visit him. I was wondering if that seems like a good age for a kitten to introduce to my current crazy kitten. I was also wondering if a certain gender is better to get along with. I read somewhere that opposite genders get along better, but I do have a preference for males. I also worry that if I get a female kitten to accompany my male kitty, they might eventually like each other too much, if you know what I mean(I am getting my kitten fixed when he's of age though). Do you guys have any suggestions?

Not sure of the age difference. But you won't have a house left if this works out.
Who knows, maybe the new kitten will simmer down the 3 month old. That is what happens to me. I get a kitten because the kitten I have is bothering the older cats. But they never bond like plan. The males on males do. The females are wiser than that.

The age difference should be a problem at all because there isn't MUCH of an age difference. Even though 8 week old kittens are small, they're pretty good at holding their own. I would choose a kitten with a similar energy level though, so that your current baby doesn't completely wear the newbie out.

As for opposite genders getting along better, in my own experiences (and I've had many, just look at my sig! ) that's a load of malarkey. It all completely depends on the individual cats, and as kittens, it doesn't matter at all because they're going to grow up together. Maybe t would make more of a difference as adults, but I don't think you have anything to worry about. Good luck!
