First of all, I feed canned, not dry. Since I try to stay away from feeding fish, I generally feel that chicken or turkey is the best choice in canned food. Bailey will eat anything I put on a plate, but Abby seems to definitely dislike chicken and is only mildly interested in turkey. She seems to prefer beef or lamb and loves Natures Variety canned in the rabbit. Since I'm assuming that chicken or turkey is healthier, I'm a a bit bothered by her preference.

Does anyone else have a cat with these tastes?

My one cat does not like chicken but his favourite, other than fish, is turkey. I have bo idea whether either is better nutritionally than other proteins but there are other canned foods made from different proteins. It's good to feed a variety so your cat gets all the nutrients it needs (over time as different foods are given).

Nature's Variety offers their Instinct line in Rabbit, venison, duck, beef, lamb and chicken. These are grain free. They also make Prairie which aren't grain-free. Their Homestyle foods are.made in lamb, duck, chicken/tuna, beef, turkey and seafood stew. These are in chunks. The others are minced in texture.

Natural Balance makes limited ingredient foods in chicken, duck, venison, salmon. Don't know about their other products. They did just come out with touches called Platefuls or something - these are grain-free I believe.

The only kind of flavor Ritz would eat was fish based, which I knew in the long run wasn't good for her. She would not eat chicken, beef or any other flavor of wet food, low quality or high quality. For some other reasons, I am now feeding her raw and commercial raw, and much to my surprise and delight, she loves raw chicken, commercial raw rabbit and raw beef. Not, though, real fond of commercial raw Quail even though, in my mind, it's like a chicken.
Go figure...

Jamie doesn't like poultry, either, unless it's pepped up a bit with shrimp, tuna, calamari, caviar, ham, quail eggs, cheese or pumpkin. He does like lamb, venison and rabbit, and will eat beef on occasion.

What he wants is fish all the time, but he doesn't get it.

Chicken or turkey is actually not any healthier than rabbit or venison or beef. It's the quality of the ingredients themselves that count. However, since you are already feeding the best (Nature's Variety) you have nothing to worry about. :-)
