Maia and I need some magical TCS vibes......

I am in a very bad financial situation. I am owed money that has been suspended for 2 months already and unemployed right now. It is actually unemployment that owes me the money. My account was not properly reviewed after I sent them all the information they asked for 6 weeks ago. For the past 3 weeks it has been sitting under review with no changes. NYC UE is not the easiest to get a live representative. Today I was told that it could be another 30 days! They give 30 days for previous employer to respond while I am on the verge of loosing everything.............
Maia's ringworm has spread from her chest up her neck to chin and we are almost out of medicine. My bills are doubled up....................I really need TCS vibes for all this to change

You and Maia are in my prayers! Keep trying, things will turn around and it will be okay. You are strong, no giving up!

I'm sorry you're going through this. Especially when it's your unemployment and you're not getting any of it.

I always hated having to file and then it would take four weeks for the first check to come in, etc.

for the rep to get your account cleared up and you to get your money.

Vibes for things to get better
Oh honey, and . I hate red tape and government nonsense. Hurry up and wait. I really wonder if some of these government workers have ever been in this kind of situation and how THEY would feel having to wait for so long for their benefits. I really hope it gets straightened out ASAP.

As for the ringworm meds, I rescued a kitten from the side of the road about 10 years ago that had ringworm (didn't know it at the time...). When I took him in to the vet she said she could either prescribe an ointment for ringworm that costs around $20 or I could pick up generic athletes foot medicine at K-mart for about $3. Apparently fungus medicine is fungus medicine. It cleared it up pretty quickly on the kitten and on me (yeah, I got it in the middle of my back from him laying on me. Not fun!) Just a suggestion.

Does the NYC unemployment department have an email communication thing, or even an office you can go to in person? In CA, it is impossible to get to talk to someone on the phone, hard enough to not get a busy signal when trying to get automated info even! But they have a Contact Us link on their website where you can email them your question or problem or whatever, and I've always gotten a response within a day or 2. But yeah, it was over a month before I finally got any money after filing the first time, and in fact I am over 4 weeks behind right now and trying to get it caught up. You'd think they would realise that the people claiming UI benefits already have no income, so they need that money NOW! I wish you all the best to get it soon, and to get Maia better soon too.

AW Hun . Hang in there, it will be alright. You will get that check. And poor Maia, if it is spreading then this meds might not be working. Is she getting dipped, Lime Sulfur? Also, apple cider vinegar (1 tbsp. Per cup) applied to the lesion twice daily will control the fungus too. I hope your vet can be understanding of your financial situation, and give you a break here .

I would definitely start poor Maia (and to you right now) on an oral medication for ringworm if you have not. Whatever you are doing, is not working . Ask about Griseofulvin or Itraconizole. If she were my cat this is what I would do.

#1 - Shave her down completely
#2 - Either a Lyme Sulfur dip (ask vet) or a 20 part water to 1 part bleach rinse (after shaving) twice weekly.
#3 - Put her on an oral anti-fungal medication.
#4 - use a topical anti-fungal on the lesions daily. Like the apple cider mixture (dab on) or Miconazole from the pharmasist ( a cream ).

Her immune system is not working to it's fullest, so she needs extra help to rid herself of this fungus. Don't worry, her coat will grow back, but at this point you need to get a complete handle on any hair follicle spores falling off. Shaving is one way to stop the growth of the fungus. the fungus HATES light and grows along the edges of the lesions in the hair. Also if you shave her, you will be able to treat the lesions properly and any other lesions you might be missing. I know this is the last thing you need right now . I think you just need to get control of this fungus and your vet needs to be more aggressive with it too. Here are some links with info.

So sorry this is happening to you. It's not fair. When it rains it pours.

BUT, these bad times will pass.

Healing vibes going out to Maia.

Still no change with my Unemployment account. Its been 10 weeks and there is absolutely no reason for this to be happening, I have done everything 'by the books'!
I was able to borrow a couple hundred to pay electric and internet before turn off........
It's Maia that I am very concerned about. Her initial ringworm infection seemed to clear up. Now it has spread from her chest to her chin, and has gone from a small circular area on her chin to a 2 inch long scabby area from her chin down her neck. The scabby area has been spreading over the past week and doesn't seem to be healing underneath.I stopped by the vet's today and was told exactly what I expected, I need to bring her back for another exam. The only reason why I haven't already is that the exam alone is $80, then there is the medication $.
I am hoping to borrow the $ for Maia to go in tomorrow from a friend, waiting anxiously to hear back from him.....
My first concern is Maia, she is my life line.......

I know when my husband was temporarily laid off last year, it took around a month before we saw the first check. 10 wks seems insane, but I have no idea how backlogged NYC UE is. He was off for 6 wks and we got a check for 2 weeks unemployment. Not fair, but read tape held things up. One thing, if you have any special requirements for your unemployment (ie, proof of a job search) fulfill them if you can right now even if you aren't getting a check yet. DH's benefits didn't last long enough to count since he was called back after 6 weeks, but if it had lasted longer he probably could have gotten the money for the first 4 weeks by showing proof of a job search.

Of course, none of this helps you right now.

I still advise you to try athletes foot cream on the Maia for the ringworm if you haven't already. Honestly, it cleared it up on my back and my cat. It may have been a milder case though. I'm not trying to diagnose your kitty at all, I'm just thinking it may save you $80 and a vet prescription.

I really hope you get some answers soon and your checks start coming in with back pay!!!!!

Still thinking of you and Maia, sending more prayers. Hang in there, it will get better!
Hope she'll be ok! Also as already said generic canesten or athletes foot cream is used to treat ringworm topically.

Oh hun. . I know clipping Maia is what really needs to be done. But it is tricky to clip a cat if you have never done it yourself. You need pet clippers and at least #15 or #30 blade. She must be taken down quite short. Can't the vet or even a vet tech assist you with this dilemma , why can't they see you are struggling and ringworm is nothing to mess around with and needs to be treated aggressively .

WHY would the vet charge you another vet visit???? for eighy bucks. this is a recheck and you would think under the circumstances they would waive the vet visit.... Seriously, do you want me to call your vet??? and try to speak to them on your behalf? If so, I would be happy to, hun. Just PM me the vet name and phone number. I am so sorry you are dealing with this and really feel bad for you Maia
