Hi there, my 8 year old male cat recently disappeared for about 8 days. He has been neutered since 6 months. This is not the first time he has been gone for so long. He seems to do it at least once at year and when he comes back he sits outside crying very loudly until we come out. He then comes into the house and walks around crying. He has been back 3 days now and wants lots of cuddles and talking. (ha ha I know you guys will understand this, when I talk to him he meows back at the appropriate moment). I would really love to know why he disappears and why he cries when he comes back. I live in Spain and I know nobody has tried to take him there are many catlovers here and he is obviously well fed and cared for. It's very worrying when he goes as we never know if he is going to come back or if something has happened to him. thanx

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

Hi there. I can't suggest why he might go missing, but does he wear a collar? If so, you might try putting one of those little cylinder tags on it that contain a piece of paper. You could ask anyone who finds/feeds him to contact you.

I would like to imagine that when he comes back he is just telling you of his adventures.
Most likely, he has a vacation home somewhere.

I heard that there are many ferals in Europe, and other countries outside of the USA. The people there just seem to acccept them and care for them, as though they're just part of the environment (like we feed wild birds). I think if he's being fed, and can find temporary shelter, then he probably doesn't have a keen sense of time, or think about when he should go "home".
Do they do microchipping in Spain?? If so, you should have him "chipped", so at least if something happens to him, you have a good chance of tracing him.

thanks for you all your answers. Yayi, you think like me, ha ha yes he has told me all about his adventures!
One big error I made in my post I said there were many cat lovers here, I meant there aren't many cat lovers here, so unlikely that anyone would feed him. He looks a little thinner, good job as he has been on a diet for the past 8 months and doesn't seem to have lost any weight.
Anyway I suppose i will never know why he goes for so long, we are all just so glad that he is back.

I have one, the alpha female, that has to take a consitution around the neighborhood, sit on the front stoop in the sun. That is the perfect day for her.
Maybe yours just has to get out once in a while. Glad he finds his way home!
