Cats + Fog Machines

So I'm looking to pickup an inexpensive fog machine for Halloween festivities.

Now my concern is first and foremost, does anyone know if its OK for kitties?

There are no warning labels about breathing in the fog (they use these at dance clubs after all indoor packed with people), however, I'm concerned if the glycol mist would be bad on their coats or freak them out because of the smell or something.

Ideal would be if they think its the most fun thing ever and go running and jumping around in the fog, heh.

Thoughts?

Mmm.. If I remember correctly from a few Halloweens ago, cats avoid them anyways.

Were you planning on having them indoors?

Yeah, I was going to get a low-line fogger with a cooler on it so it creates a thick fog but only near your feat.

I thought this might be a neat fluffy cloud for the cats to jump into and be all stealthy too, heh.

From what I read, they are safe for pets as long as they are not confined in a small room with it with no air circulation or ventilation..and don't overdo it with the fog.

I saw a few videos of the cats getting startled by the machines themselves but not so much of the fog. So, I think you'd be ok to give it a shot. If they don't like it, they will just go elsewhere. Maybe watch with interest from high up, at least.

Chemical foggers are not good for anyone to breathe, but if you're just using it for Halloween festivities and in a well ventilated area, there isn't much concern.

If you want a safe fogger, a homemade dry ice fogger (provided no one can access/spill the dry ice!) and a regular old fan are much safer.

Personally, I wouldn't go there. I use to work around them and they were definitely not fun to inhale. Also cats prefer to now their surroundings, just imagine if something scared one in the fog and they couldn't see what, or where they were going.....

Agree. My Hubby plays guitar onstage,as a hobby, He cant stand the foggers. They choke him when he is trying to sing. That does not seem healthy to me.

We have one but we have not used it since we got cats and it's just a cauldron that "smokes" a little. I wouldn't feel comfortable using one as a way to create fog at ground level where kitties would be walking and playing.

I would definitely not use it. Something that's mildly irritating to humans can kill smaller animals.

My cat wouldn't want to be anywhere near a fog machine; it would probably freak him out. That being said, the cats probably won't even be in the vicinity and should be fine.
