It is with the deepest regret and the heaviest heart to which I have to tell you that Vicki slipped away this afternoon and from my arms forever. If she had not eaten by noon, then euthanasia would have to be the alternative. The vet wished to run stacks more tests and felt none of these would be of any real assistance to her, they would just leave her in possible pain and discomfort and considering what she went through prior to us getting her, I dont want her going through this at all.
I am in the office until later when I have to go and have my thumb rechecked. She left me with a bad infection, but left me with more than a lifetime of loving memories.
Say a prayer for her for me.
I am too upset to do anything.

Its so obvious how much you loved Vicki. You did the right thing, letting her slip away with dignity and having known your love. My deepest sympathies and condolences.

Kev, my heart breaks for you. Just remember, though, that Angel-kitty Vicki will be watching over you. I've noticed that they always want to make sure we humans are okay after they've gone.

Kev, I'm so sorry to hear that. Vicki knew love for the last 4 years of her life.

I must say I come across owners who, when faced with a bout of unexplained severe aggression, don't even think about taking the cat to the vet. Instead they try to punish the cat and some even just abandon the cat. I commend you for being such a loving and responsible owner - when attacked so badly by your cat you took no consideration of yourself and took the right steps to take care of the cat first.

Again, my sympathies for your loss

BTW - I closed the previous thread and moved the posts relating to this sad announcement here

Kev - I read your first thread concerning Vicki this morning, and it is with dread that I opened up the new thread hoping against hope that the news might be good.

Your love for Vicki come across so strongly in your writing, your pain must be almost unbearable now. What you did was selfless and with utmost respect, consideration and dignity for your beloved pet.

I'm so sorry you had to part with her so suddenly. However the only consolation is that she is now pain-free and scampering happily in open fields never to be frightened or in pain again.

Kev-

My heart goes out to you during this most difficult time.
Let yourself cry. You're entitled.

You did everything that you could for Vicki and thensome.
She was a very lucky cat to have you for her dad.
She is no longer suffering and is still with you . . . you just can't see her.

I pray that your thumb heals quickly.

Oh Kev, I am so sorry about Vicki. Like Anne said, she knew love in her last 4 years of life and I know she will be looking down at you from the Rainbow Bridge and smiling at the happy memories.

I'm so sorry to hear she passed over to the Bridge. She knew and knows how much you loved her. I believe she will always be your special angel looking down on you and she will never really leave you.

Take comfort in knowing that because of you, the last years of her life were filled with happiness and joy.

Hi Kev.

Whenn my Munchie-boy died in April - I found the following poem a comfort.

A POEM FOR THE GRIEVING...
Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die...
-Anonymous

I hope that it provides a measure of comfort for you.

My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry, Kev.

You took care of her & gave her happy times while she was with you.
You were strong enough to choose the kindest path for her to end her suffering. Now she's at peace, over the Rainbow Bridge, lying in the sun, purring.
My thoughts & prayers are with you.
