update on Vicki

It is with the deepest regret and the heaviest heart to which I have to tell you that Vicki slipped away this afternoon and from my arms forever. If she had not eaten by noon, then euthanasia would have to be the alternative. The vet wished to run stacks more tests and felt none of these would be of any real assistance to her, they would just leave her in possible pain and discomfort and considering what she went through prior to us getting her, I dont want her going through this at all.
I am in the office until later when I have to go and have my thumb rechecked. She left me with a bad infection, but left me with more than a lifetime of loving memories.
Say a prayer for her for me.
I am too upset to do anything.
absolutely devastated

Kev, I am so very, very sorry to hear of Vicki's passing. She is over the Bridge now, and will never have pain again. Bless you for the good years you gave her, teaching her love and trust.

Kev, my heart breaks for you. Just remember, though, that Angel-kitty Vicki will be watching over you. I've noticed that they always want to make sure we humans are okay after they've gone.
Kev, I'm so sorry to hear that. Vicki knew love for the last 4 years of her life.

I must say I come across owners who, when faced with a bout of unexplained severe aggression, don't even think about taking the cat to the vet. Instead they try to punish the cat and some even just abandon the cat. I commend you for being such a loving and responsible owner - when attacked so badly by your cat you took no consideration of yourself and took the right steps to take care of the cat first.

Again, my sympathies for your loss

BTW - I closed the previous thread and moved the posts relating to this sad announcement here

Kev - I read your first thread concerning Vicki this morning, and it is with dread that I opened up the new thread hoping against hope that the news might be good.

Your love for Vicki come across so strongly in your writing, your pain must be almost unbearable now. What you did was selfless and with utmost respect, consideration and dignity for your beloved pet.

I'm so sorry you had to part with her so suddenly. However the only consolation is that she is now pain-free and scampering happily in open fields never to be frightened or in pain again.

My heart goes out to you during this most difficult time.
Let yourself cry. You're entitled.

You did everything that you could for Vicki and thensome.
She was a very lucky cat to have you for her dad.
She is no longer suffering and is still with you . . . you just can't see her.

I pray that your thumb heals quickly.

Hi Kev.

Whenn my Munchie-boy died in April - I found the following poem a comfort.

Do not stand at my grave and weep.
I am not there, I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow,
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain,
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry,
I am not there, I did not die...

I hope that it provides a measure of comfort for you.

My thoughts are with you.

I'm so sorry, Kev.

You took care of her & gave her happy times while she was with you. You were strong enough to choose the kindest path for her to end her suffering. Now she's at peace, over the Rainbow Bridge, lying in the sun, purring. My thoughts & prayers are with you.

Just to let you know that I have been to see the vet today and settle the bill. It appears that she had had what looks to be a massive stroke and thats what turned her on sunday and left me with a sceptic finger. She was resting and very placid in the afternoon when she was checked again and even though she was not on any drugs at all, she let the vet examine her head to toe and she never even moved. In the past you touched her feet and you knew it.
She then had what looks to be a further stroke and the vet has confirmed that she would have died that day any way and we helped her through kindness - not cruelty.
We also heard from the surgeon re my step father as well this afternoon. He died of a massive heart attack following a huge blood clot.
Cant thank you enough for your words in respect of what I am going through. I have cried for vicki and for clive today and still am. No one ever wrote a book on greiving for a lost pet or how to deal with grief did they?
I keep thinking about another cat - but in some ways its way too early and I am mentally shot to hell. It would feel as though am trying to replace her and I have no intention of doing that.
If anyone can locate the photo I had of her placed on to TCS, please put it in the place for photos for me.
