Phaedra was spayed on the 11th. She was eating her Wellness kitten wet & dry just fine with no problems. Yesterday (Friday) I went to feed her some wet food and just a few minutes after she vomited a very liquidity tan puddle. I immediately took her to the E-vet as she was on 0.1mL a day of Metacam. She had liver enzymes and parameter blood tests done and everything came out perfect. The doctor said he didn't know why she was vomiting, and that the dose of Metacam she was on was a very small and appropriate dose for her age/weight, but he gave me some cans of Science Diet i/d to have her eat over the weekend. The Metacam should be out of her system now as the last dose I gave her was around 10pm on Thursday, and the doctors said it's usually out of the system in 24 hours. I tried to mix some of her Wellness food with her SD food today, she still vomited. I fed her SD twice since then and she has not vomited. It seems she only vomits now when she eats her Wellness wet food, which is just minutes after consumption. This is concerning as I do not want to have her on a SD diet, I want to stick with the high quality food that is better for her.
Does anyone know what could be the cause of this? Has this happened to anyone else? Can a cat's diet change after a spay surgery?
