Ok so feeling a little better now that shes eating baby food. I also found this soup like stuff @ petco thats easy for her to eat. I'm doing my best to keep her going til she can't anymore. She doesn't seem to be in pain. I still have some pain meds for her if she needs it. I managed to get some antibiotic in her baby food this morning. I'd really like to keep her til my husband comes back. If i see its getting worse and shes not herself then i know its time to go. She still loves sitting in her window. She slept in bed with us last night and she hasn't been doing that as much. If you knew this cat you'd know why i love her SO MUCH. She's really special and i really thought i'd have her alot longer. I'm not sure about getting another cat although it'd make us feel good to get 1 from the spca. I like rescuing pets. They're always so overcrowded. It could help us recover from the loss or make us miss her more. I guess we'll see. I hope she can be here still when my husband comes back. At least i get to spend more time with her, he doesn't.

Thanks for the support.

I'm so sorry to hear that it is cancer.
I hope you are able to spend many more good days with her, and your husband too. She is a lucky kitty to be so loved in her last days.

I know it hadn't spread the day of the biopsy. If it does or the tumor gets bigger then she'll have to go. Its the heardest thing i've had to do.

Maryjane is a beautiful, and clearly, well loved cat. She is lucky to have such caretakers. Please remember that she is fortunate to have you, and that she is well aware that you care so much for her. She is grateful.

This is such a terrible thing, and so difficult to live through. I've had to watch two of my own kitties pass away from cancer - losing both less than 3 years apart. It was so very painful, and I felt this sick feeling in the pit of my stomach the whole time. My helplessness was extremely frustrating.

The grief was great for me, as you can expect for you. But, in time, such pain always passes. I had another cat, each time I lost these two. So I was never completely catless, and never have been for one single hour in over 50 years. I need cats. But I have never been one to go out and get another cat right away. Until the last couple of years, I've usually had only 2 cats at one time. If one passed, it would take me 6 to 18 months to be ready to get another, and in the mean time I'd have only one cat.

Now, since I volunteer at a shelter, I have 5 cats, as I see the overwhelming need for homes for so, so many darling kitties.

Don't think about getting another cat now. In time, I think you and your husband will feel the desire to open your hearts and home to another deserving, and lucky cat.

But right now, just cherish the time you have with your dear MJ. You have given her a good life and have done, and continue to do, all you can to care for her and make her comfortable. I'm sure she loves you very much. I'm so sad and sorry she is ill.

Robin

Thank you..I'll probably wait to get another cat. It'll take some time to get over this. We have to pay extra to have a cat too. Take a break from that..Who knows. I love cats though. Hard to say right now. I read that 2nd hand smoke can cause mouth cancer and canned fishy type food is a cause too. How true that is i'm not sure. I know our next kitty won't get canned fish wet food. Just so be safe.

She's acting more like her old self. Coming to me for food, getting at her plate to lick leftovers. Hope to have her another week or 2 or even longer. Just so shes active and eating.

Fighting for ferals in NW NJ!
If the cancer isn't spreading, it may well be that the tumor is just uncomfortable - and now that you've found food she can it without difficulty, she's enjoying life again!

I hope you enjoy many, many, many more good days with your baby before it's her time.

Just do your best to focus on what she's enjoying, and delight in spoiling her even more rotten than usual LOL. Take it one day at a time, or one hour at a time.

I always say that every cat we lose leaves a hole it's exact shape in our hearts, and no other cat can fill that hole perfectly.

I frequently see people come in our shelter to replace a cat they lost, sometimes immediately, sometimes months later. They all admit that life isn't complete without a cat for a "cat person."

My brother has lost 4 cats in the last year, all of which he had from birth, two of which were 17 years old. He's really hurting, and he saved one cat from our shelter already.
