Good morning everyone!

Nothing really going on today, just have to get an oil change.

When was the last time you got an oil change? Do you do it yourself or take it in to a shop?

In the summer, I do it my self. But since it's starting to get cold out, I'm going to take it in.

I take Clarence into the shop for oil changes. I know how to change oil; my dad taught me and he taught me how to change tires, too. But it's easier just to take him in...I'm lazy.

Rob just changed my oil last Sunday. Hit 30,000 miles in the Mustang.

I've been changing oil on cars for 14 years
My dad had a shop and I used to do all the oil changes from the time I was 10 during the summers. Rob does them now because he'll just take my car to work with him and change it on the lifts he has.

I don't think our Acura or the F-350 are due yet. The F-350 takes 4 gallons of oil!! (Yes, you read that correctly. Not quarts, gallons!!)

The Jeep was done two weeks ago today, Chev still has to be done. I quit doing my own oil changes on vehicles when I got the 3/4 ton Chev diesel - couldnt reach the filter from the top without a ladder (shudder) nor from underneat no matter how much I rolled around in the dirt - started taking it to the Co-op and the whole job only costs around $10.00 more than buying your own oil and filters. I figured tthat 10.00 was worth it, saved me rolling in the dirt an cussing

pleas pardon typos - Blue is being a helpful kitteh

Funny to see this question today, we are going down in about 30 minutes to get the oil changed and whatever else they have to do based on the warranty.

I just got an oil change about 3 weeks ago plus filters and took it to a shop.

The car was inspected in June, and the oil was changed then. Usually we take it to the service station for things like changing the oil or tires. Since I commute to work by train and DH by bike, the car doesn't get used every day, so there's not a lot of maintenance involved. I walk as much as possible around town (bank, doctor, dentist, etc.).

I hate to admit it, but the last time I actually even got gas was in May or June of 2010. We have a diesel, and really don't use it much - mainly for grocery shopping, the vet and vacation, so we only need fuel every couple of months, and DH usually gets it.

I used to do it more often but these days I don't drive that much.

There was a time when I had it done every two months because I drove a lot for work. And in my younger days I did it myself. After a bad experience with my first new car I decided to enroll in a class and do my maintenance work myself.

But when I moved to my first house disposal became a problem. Because of that and time I started having it done at the garage.

We got Peppy an oil change a couple months back and always took him to the shop. We'll be taking the new car, Polly Pea Green, right to the dealership for oil changes just to make sure we don't void the warranty.

Luckily my hubby is pretty mechanical minded so if there's anything wrong or needs doing to my car I ask him.x

I take to a oil change place. It's over due for it by a bit. Maybe I'll get it done this next week

Our cars go to the dealer for oil changes. Our '99 Honda (which we sold a few months ago) used to go to a mechanic, but I think he really ripped us off -
$50 for an oil change? He said he used some synthetic oil and some regular, but now we are told you can't mix the 2. Don't know if it's true or not - but we don't have the car anymore.

Hmm the Explorer was done at the beginning of summer so thats not due for a little while since I drove the truck most of the summer but we check the oil monthly to make sure its not goonky or anything like that. Im real paranoid about letting stuff like that go unchecked. The Ranger is due but not omg right this second. We are coming up on the mileage to change it.

I make DF do everything because otherwise to me its a waste of money when I have perfectly good FREE service right in my backyard. LOL Im too cheap to take it anywhere else even if its only 20 bucks.
