Well our Kitty, Dodger is starting to show symptoms of a upper repository infection.... (great!) I had origianlly thought it to be allergies but now I am almost sure it is a UR.... the horrible part is that this would be the 3rd UR that my house has had to fight.... grrr.... I thinking one of the kitties is a carrier of it. *sigh* I have giving him some meds and hope this goes away fast. Ranger on the other handis doing great not acting sick anymore. which is weird cause I would suspect him to get the UR before Dodger. Well I will keep everyone posted on how the fight goes.

I'm not sure you're asking for any input, but I'll take a chance and just put out a few thoughts. There are a number of treatments that work wonders for (what might seem like) URIs, and the best part is that these do absolutely no harm. I'll give you these links
L-lysine*
"Steaming"
Nasal Drops
*The dosage for L-lysine can be increased safely...I use 500 mg 2x daily for the first few days, then reduce

I don't know if you're using antibiotics but, if so, the same site speaks to those here

Those links are part of a complete coverage of URIs - the link for that is here.

Hoping this helps

In paradise, under a cat pile
I took in a cat that had survived cat flu. She had upper respitory infection all her life. When ever it acted up on her, I plugged in the Vicks warmer and it cleared her breathing, well she could breath. Then I got the real thing a Vaperizer. The plug in thing works better..no mess.
Now some people don't like using Vicks for cats. But I am not having them eat it. It did work. You have to pick and choose, I suppose

I had thought about vicks and mentioned it once to my vet and she said that it would be fine just to not let them eat it.

URIs are highly contagious among cats, just as colds are contagious among humans. Be sure to use good hygiene practices after you've been petting on him and wash your hands before petting your other kitties. If you can, confine him to one room with a vaporizer and all the other ammenities. (I realize this may not be possible.) Also, clean, clean, clean! Use Clorox wipes to wipe surfaces and clean the litter box more frequently if possible.

I've used Vicks on my girl before. It worked for us when she was at her worst. Sometimes, it just takes time and TLC to get them through these things. Be sure he continues to eat and drink enough.
