That's hilarious! Once I went in a wooden maze, but luckily didn't spend enough time wandering around to call 911!

remind me never to go to a corn maze.

Humanity always amazes me both with its examples of absolute genius and stupidity.

It sounds like they were all together, and they came in during daytime so had plenty of time to figure out how to navigate out. Worst case scenario, its a corn field, the plants are all planted in very nice rows, so simply choose one row and follow it out of the field. Herp derp!

Within a minute or so upon arrival, the police officer located the family. The family didn't realize they had almost made their way out; they were just 25 feet from the street, Connors said.
I get embarrassed at the thought of having to ask for directions, so imagine how the dad must have felt, heh. Honestly, these are the people that are supposed to be eaten by saber tooth tigers and the like to keep the gene pool clean.

Imagine these people on one of those survival shows hahahahaahah!!!

We have a huge corn maze close by. I don't see the whole point. Maybe that is why.

Seeing that I work for public safety, this type of 911 call does not surprise me at all. I can write a book on the calls we get. IMO, the human race is going down hill fast in respect to us using our brain power. I feel a lot of this has to do with all the electronic gadgets we have today. We rely on the electronics instead of our brains. One simple test is this. Ask someone if they know a phone number to a friend etc. Most people lets say, 10 years ago, would be able to recall the number but today, they have to look in their cell phone address book. Look at how many people have a gps? What for? You can't find your way to work without it?? lol I understand if you are going on a trip, but every day on my way to work, I see car after car with a gps that is on. All those people can not be going on a trip.

LOL That does look like a HUGE corn maze though and I could easily see how you could get lost. They should have Corn Maze Tour Guides . I would have absolutely freaked out because I am really claustrophobic and then if I thought I couldn't get out YIKES!!!!! You would all be laughing at my 911 call

Those corn mazes are scary! I don't know if they plant the corn more densely than a normal cornfield or not, but even getting out of a regular cornfield can be dicey, although of course you know you'll get out eventually (if you go the wrong way it could be a full mile, though!). The corn maze owner really should have a contingency plan for people who can't find their way out.

Who takes a 3 week old baby to a corn maze? These people fail at common sense.
I suppose they could have posts with radios or lights to let people know they are lost. lol. I'd be embarrassed to call 911 for that reason though.

About 20 years ago, I was in graduate school at a university in rural northern Illinois. It's very big corn field country. I used to take shortcuts driving there through dirt roads, not usually on maps. Once I got very lost, with the corn so high I couldn't see over it. This was before GPS and cell phones. However I did have an early cell phone with me - a big heavy "bag phone" - because I traveled many miles each day in remote areas.

However, if I called 911, what was I going to say? "I'm lost in cornfields in Dekalb County?" If you know the area then you'd understand that the police would have needed a helicopter or plane to find me.

Eventually, I found my way out by trying to go in one direction. I stuck to main roads after that.

Dumb....just dumb. Why on earth would you be scared? Use your brain and just walk out of the thing. Some people...

The one farm near us has a corn maze that you can easily get lost in. Luckily for us, we get long poles with flags on them to raise up and wave if we get lost and want to get out. They have workers on stands keeping an eye out for waving flags, and they come in and get you.

It certainly can be scary to be lost in a corn maze. We were last year but we found our way out.

But, if it got to the point that we were panicking, we would have just went off the path and out of the maze.

I hope they are billed for the resources used on such a ridiculous call.
