Hyperthyroidism?

Kahlua is my oldest cat, at 9. Ialso have her brother, same age, along with 8 other cats. Kahlua has not always been super happy about living with so many cats, but she coexisted. About a year ago, she started getting very antisocial. Also about that time one of her eyes started weeping, and she also started losing hair. Not totally bald, but the long hair on her back legs turned to short hair.
It go much much worse, she started living under the recliner. She was still coming out to eat and use the litter boxes, but 95% of the time she was under the recliner. SO I confined her in the spare bedroom, because I figured it she was alone under the recliner, she wouldn't mind being alone in the room, and maybe she wouldn't hide. So she's been in there for over 2 months.
Recently, I've noticed that she is losing weight. She also started losing hair again, and has a totally bald spot on her neck, that has scratches and red spots. Originally I thought this was a)a reaction to the Advantage or b)a bad reaction to the fleas my foster kittens brought in. Now I'm not so sure. She also has diarrhea, and it seems like I'm filling her water bowl up every day, and this water bowl holds at least 4 cups of water. She has a vet appointment at Friday at 2, but does this sound like hyperthyroidism to anyone else? They did a senior blood panel last year when I took her in and they said everything was normal.

no one? Thanks...

It could be hyperthyroid. But there are so many things out there with those symptoms that anyone would be remiss to offer a strong opinion about what it is without seeing bloodwork.

I'm glad you have an appt. with the veto Friday. I hope they can give you some answers.

How did the vet appt work out? Excessive drinking could be diabetes.

These things could be a number of things from hyper-t, to diabetes, to kidneys.... Hoping it is nothing serious....

Well the vet said she found a flea on her and that could be contributing to the loss of hair and scratching. But I don't think it is. Fleas don't cause weight loss or diarrhea, especially since she's had fleas before. But they tested her blood sugar and it was 93, so no diabetes, they gave her a prednisone shot, a Comfortis tab, dewormed her and sent me home. If it doesn't clear up I'll take her back to get the bloodwork done.
