I am not much of a complainer when it comes to how this site is run. In fact, aside from the above, there isn't anything that I find wrong with this website. The mods are excellent, the members are wonderful, and the site, itself, is informative and like a second home to me. But, with all that being said, I really do miss the monthly photo contests we had.
I know it was a lot of work for the mods and, perhaps, that's why we haven't seen the contests this year. But, maybe we could form a group of people (or just one or two individuals) who are willing to run the photo contests under the supervision of the mods. I feel as though the contests brought us all together. I wasn't much of a fan of the way they were judged last year (with only the top photos having a chance of winning), but the original way where everyone who entered a pic had a real opportunity to win was something special that this site offered. And, while I never won, I always enjoyed participating -- whether by entering a photo or just voting. It felt like we were a community. And, I think some of that might be missing now...
I don't know if the photo contests became too time consuming or if there was an issue with the calendar. But, I, for one, would love to see them brought back -- calendar or not. Perhaps the winner could just accrue points or a special gift from the shop. I hope I'm not stepping on anyone's toes by sharing my opinion, but it is something I think about often.
