Do you prefer to shop alone or with somebody?

I was off work yesterday for the Columbus Day holiday, so I thought I'd do a bit of shopping. I normally shop with Rick or my sister, but Rick doesn't have the holiday off and my sister had an in-service day at school (she's the vice-principal of a local school). Everybody I knew was working, so off to the mall I went. By myself.

It was kind of nice being on my own. I tried on a lot of pants (I have such a hard time finding pants that fit, so I can spend hours trying them on) and shirts. I managed to find three pairs of pants (Gloria Vanderbilt's Amanda pants in olive green, a pair of Lees casual pants in heather grey and a pair of black Dockers), three shirts, two sweaters, three pairs of dress socks, and some underwear. Oh, and a really great pair of black boots....I love, love, love boots and am always looking for a good pair. Because of the sales and some dept store coupons and such, I only spent $150. I left the house around 9:30 and was back home by 1:30, so that's pretty good. And I only spent half my stash, so I get to do it again! (My next off-work holiday is Veteran's Day, although a lot of people seem to have off for that one, too.)

Last year, I think I ended up by myself for a Columbus Day shopping trip, too. It may become a tradition as I did have a good time shopping alone. I didn't have to worry about taking too much time looking or trying clothes on. And I could walk around as I wanted.

What was really neat is that usually when I shop for myself, I end up buying stuff for the grandkids or the cats or for Rick or for the house. And I get nothing for me. I was determined to come home with clothes for a change.

I like to go shopping with someone, I hate doing things alone if im really honest, I like to have someone to talk to and tell me if what m trying on really does suit me or not

And it means I have someone to go to lunch with to

It depends on what I'm shopping for.

My all time favorite person to shop with is Craig though, he enjoys shopping too so it's always fun!
I love Gloria Vanderbilt jeans! They're the only pair that makes me look skinny(er), lol. So comfortable too!

As for shopping, I do both.. mainly because I live alone and don't know anyone in the area to shop with, but when I visit my parents, my mom and I are always out shopping somewhere.

It depends on who it is. I have one dear friend who loves to shop and used to be good for helping me find stuff; but get the dear girl around clothing and she cant help but find stuff for herself....in the petite section. I'm not petite. I'll leave it at that!

If DH goes he just leaves me in my section and calls my cell every few minutes.

So I've started having better luck shopping by myself. My Mom is good sometimes. Esp if my DD has to come along. She's never upset when she's with her Nonnie!
I prefer to shop alone if there's something I need to get. If it's just browsing shopping, then it's fun with someone else, as long as the kids aren't tagging along. My DH is a very patient man and puts up with my shopping very well.

If I'm shopping for heavy items (cat litter, soda, etc) I need Dave along to tote the load.
I really prefer to shop by myself.

I hate shopping, so I generally like to shop alone. This way I know what I want, know where to get it and can bee-line in and out.

However, for clothing I go with a friend. I stand in my underwear in the dressing room while she goes and gets me things to try on. Saves me from having to get undressed and dressed a zillion times to wander around the store looking for more items.

I prefer to shop on my own, that way I don't feel tethered to anyone else's schedule, so I can take my time if I want, or hurry up and get out if I want. Not a huge fan of clothes shopping, but I love grocery shopping. I'm at a grocery store almost everyday for something. But again, I like to be on my own, so I can browse and go back and forth.

Definately, alone. A rare exception would be that I enjoy shopping with my Mom, but she lives out of state.

I wouldn't mind meeting someone for lunch and then we both go our own ways.

I prefer to shop with another woman or alone, never with a man. They don't have patience and most hate to go shopping.
I don't like shopping at all, but if I have to, I prefer to go with my mother or DH.

I prefer to go alone.

I just like to shop in general! I always find I get more accomplished when I'm alone though. Great deals Pam!

We like shopping, just for different types of things.

Throw us in a boating, guns, hi-fi/gaming, race-shop, cigar/alcohol, or gentleman's club and we'll shop for hours.

I don't even like shopping alone mostly though, as I feel clueless about everything without an internet connection to check if the prices are good, see consumer reviews, etc and paying sales tax sucks. So most of my shopping is done in my boxers online!

I can consintrate better when I am alone shopping. I am alone all the time anyway. I don't think the cats would be welcome in the stores. They are my only company.

It's definetely easier to go on your own you can ge what you want and spend as much time as you want choosing things.Since I have passed my driving test I love going on my own.x

It depends on what I'm shopping for and who I'm shopping with. Hate shopping with DH most of the time, but its fun with my sister. Usually if I'm actually out to get something specific, I would prefer to do it by myself, get what I want, and get out of there.

YES!! I love boots too (my cat and the shoes ). I just bought a new pair for this year. Brown faux-leather riding style. Won't get too many chances to wear them in Florida winter, but hey. They were my one splurge this year.

As for shopping, it depends on what I'm shopping for. If it's for clothes in general, I have one friend that I go with who has the same shopping style as me: lightning quick through all the relevant clearance racks, pick out what you like, dressing room, throw away what doesn't fit perfectly, and we only allow 10 minutes of agonizing and deciding over which skirt/shirt to get, or whether to buy the necklace instead, etc. Then if we can't decide we just put it back, check out, go to the next store, and repeat.

For grocery shopping, I love to go by myself... in the middle of the night. Walmart is just so much more serene at 2 or 3am, and I'm not in every person in Orlando's way while I'm blocking the aisles with my cart, deciding which coupons apply to which stuff.

I like to go shopping alone. Actually, I like to do most things alone.
Depends who I am shopping with and what I'm shopping for!

Sometimes I like Rob to come clothes shopping with me so he can help pick out things he thinks would look nice on me, and be a 2nd opinion when trying stuff on.

Other times I just want to go alone and pick an outfit to surprise him with.

I despise shopping with other people. Im an in and out person. I absolutely cannot take df shopping without picturing a thousand ways to murder him in the most horrific ways. Not only does he complain ridiculously about being in the grocery store but he complains so much that he throws off my system and makes me forget stuff. He is forever banned from going to the grocery store with me. Even to get milk, he has to sit in the car by himself and be quiet.

Any shopping that involves crossing the bridge I do go with df. I hate it though. I have mental lists and if Im left to do it on my own I can remember everything and be in and out wham bam thank you ma'am. With him, omg its painful. He will look at stuff and he has to have it cant live without it so if its within my budget then I will let him get it...3/4 of the way to check out, he set its down. Yet when it comes to stuff we NEED, like toilet paper, paper towels stuff like that. He will pitch a fit and whine moan and complain that we need that stuff. Really...he NEEDS a 3rd air rachet but we dont need to wipe our butts...really!!!

Ughhh I am so happy I do all my shopping while hes at work, and Im in control of all the money, otherwise we would have ten thousand tools that will never get used and no food and no toilet paper.

I'm lucky because Rick actually doesn't mind shopping. We'll get up early, go to the Cracker Barrel for breakfast and we'll spend the rest of the day shopping. He'll go to all the stores, he'll wait for me to try on clothes, and he makes a lot of suggestions for clothes for me to buy. I've told several people that he has better taste than I do and it's the truth.

I just feel that I'm imposing on his time, although I'm really not. He likes to take a day and shop....even if it just clothes for me. But even for the house, he'll look and feel the towels and washclothes, he'll look at dishes, he'll look at anything. Although he still feels a just a wee bit uncomfortable in the ladies underwear section of the stores.

Still, every once in a while, it's just nice to be out and about myself.

Or he does mind, but is just a prime example of true love!

Was chatting online w/ a buddies wife, and she finally admitted too that she really isn't all that in to our kart racing and shooting at the range in and of itself (when commenting that most of the wives roll their eyes at the prospect), but she just enjoys spending time w/ her hubby and sees its fun for him so wants to share that. That was a serious "awww" moment, and probably the #1 way to win over your mate's friends short of bribery heh!

That is so sweet...DF puts up with all kinds of stuff for me in the name of . Just not shopping for both of our lives because we will kill each other. Im too cheap and hes too willy nilly with shopping. But Ill suck it up on the weekends and stay out in the garage with him and he will put up with the cats and my addiction to books especially trashy romance novels..his only request...the old ones with the guy and girl on the covers...keep the covers hidden so people dont think we are reading hoochie books. LOL

Well, that could be it, too, but I think he also looks at it as a day out and about.

I used to go to the drags with him, but to be honest, I really hate drag racing. And no matter how much I tried to hide it, I couldn't. Now he goes with one of his cousins and I know he has a much better time.

I've tried to take an interest in other sports for Rick, but remember, I'm the one who fell fast asleep at a hockey game one night, embarrassing both Rick and my brother. I mean, they said that I was curled up in the seat and even snoring! That was the last hockey game he ever took me to.

Yeah, I'm not really into that either. Once you've seen one grown man running in high heels, you've seen them all.

I like to shop alone. I don't buy as much, since my conscience has this way of convincing me that I simply don't need what I'm looking at.

When I buy something, I've usually researched it completely online, and found where to get it for the least amount of money, so I rarely go on "seek and destroy my wallet missions". I go, I buy, I'm done.

Im the same way. LOL My vacuum just took a poop so my go to store is Walmart cuz its 99% of the time cheaper than anywhere else. Well my phone has a location search on it where I can type in what Im looking for and it will give me all the stores in the area of my gps location and tell me the prices. I found a Bissel Powerforce Turbo for $60 with a $10 rebate and it has almost 4 1/2 stars on the reviews I found. If I could buy it on walmart.com and pick it up same day at the store I would do it that way (like I do when I need stuff from Sears) but they do site to store but not in store pick up on the same day as the order. But the .97 shipping is a woo woo if I ever need that.
