Misunderstood Cat

Hi I have a beautiful white and black cat. His name is Tips because he has black on the tips of his ears. He is my cats son and will be 4 Oct 15. I can no longer keep him I have the mama cat and her other son. my apartment is small and I am not well myself. I say he misunderstood because he is a very skittish cat. He does not like to be picked up or have anyone get in his face. He needs to earn trust first. I don not want him to end up in a pound I do love him I just cant have 3 cats anymore. He needs a stress free home with no dogs or other cats, kids are not good either Help Please. I live in West Warwick RI.
Thanks Desiree

If you had to rehome one of three cats, the one skittish scaredy cat should be the one to stay with you. If he's already skittish, imagine what losing his home and family will do to him.

If he leaves your home, and doesn't adjust well to wherever he goes, the likelihood that he will be dumped at a shelter, or on the street, is very high. I know you wouldn't want that to happen to him, but that IS what happens.

Please reconsider rehoming any of them, but especially not Tips.

Perhaps, if you give us more information, the members of this forum can help you find ways to make things easier on you, so you can keep all your cats at home where they belong.

If you do give him away, I hope he goes to a good home

I don't want to give any of them away. The reason I am choosing Tips is he needs the most attention. The Mom and her other son are very independent. My little tips is so needy. I feel he is suffering the most rite now. I am going through so much rite now. I lost my sons Dad last January and am having a hard time getting back on my feet. Maybe it will all work out. I figured I would try posting. You never know they maybe someone out there who wants a really cute cuddly cat. He just needs to gain trust. I am so confused.

It's alright Life can certainly throw us for a loop and a tail-spin at times. I am sorry you lost your son's dad . I totally understand you wanting to post about Tips here on TCS. Cat lover's galore and you never know who might see him and pass this on.

He really is a gorgeous boy. Cat's really don't need much space at all. If anything, vertical space is most important to them. Cat climbing trees!! Some cats are just exactly as you describe Tips, no matter how much time you spend with them. . Really, this is true. Tips may never be a lap cat and may always be skittish. What I am saying is that even if someone adopts him and spends ALL day with him, he may still be a scardy cat and untouchable. He is what he is. My Perkins is a bit like that. He only likes head bumps . I do wish you luck in finding him a really good home if you really can't keep him.

I am sorry for all that you have gone through. I have cats that love to cuddle and be held and I have a cat who only wants to be touched when she is in the mood. But she is happy and we love her.

It sounds like he loves you and seems to bring you some comfort, maybe in time things will work out. I hope the best for all of you.
