1.5yr old Maine Coon needs a home. Ideas?

I have a 1.5 year old pure white, blue eyes, pure-bred Maine Coon male that needs a home. He is very affectionate and loyal but the problem is that he is extremely loud due to the fact that he was born deaf. The noise has not ceased since the day I got him at 8 weeks old. He, as well as myself, have become very attached over the course of his life but as much as I want to, I can't keep him anymore. I haven't slept for nearly 2 years and it's starting to put a deep dent in my health.

He is also still an intact male so he can be bred, although I doubt you would want to breed with anything that would produce white, male offspring. Either way, he has been fed a whole prey raw diet since he was about 8-9 weeks old. His favorite meal is thawed adult quail. He is very healthy, active and curious. Playing with lasers is his favorite activity, aside from hunting any lights or reflections that pass his field of view.

Does anyone know a sweet, deaf old lady or gentleman in the Milwaukee, WI area (or someone with a huge farm so that noise doesn't reach their bedroom) that can take this bandit off my hands? I will deliver to a good home within 50-80 miles if I have to. Package includes (1) Maine Coon bandit, (24) frozen quail or so, some frozen chicken livers and hearts, plus all accessories that have accumulated over the years: ie, pet carrier, food accessories, etc.

Any advice? I don't really want to give him to a shelter because I don't know what kind of treatment he will receive there. On the other hand, I'm about one step away from making a similar post about myself, asking for someone to give me a good home for a good night's sleep somewhere in a 50-80 mile radius.

Does he just meow all night long? If so, have you had him to the vet to check his thyroid? If he is not supposed to be all white and it is a genetic defect, then there could be other genetic issues at work here and the best place to start would be a full work-up with the vet.

Also, I am not sure feeding all raw is ideal (I think someone here does it and I can't speak to what supplements they give if any), but supplements may still be needed to keep him fully healthy. Maybe he is craving something like Taurine that he is not getting which is causing him to cry constantly. Have you tried supplementing his diet with some kind of excellent grade wet cat food? Or maybe the vitamins themselves?

In the photos, he is BEAUTIFUL...but he looks really thin to me. REALLY, really thin. I would get him to a vet asap and do some further research on whether he needs something that his diet is not providing him with. Just my 2 cents.

ETA: Oh...and get him neutered! If you aren't breeding him (which, you are right...if there are genetic issues, you shouldn't breed him), then he needs to be neutered. That may stop the constant meowing all on its own!

I have to agree with Bluerexbear....he looks really skinny, REALLY skinny. What does the vet say?

And getting him neutered is a must. If you aren't breeding him, what's the point of leaving him intact? You shouldn't breed him at all and the breeder that sold him to you without the requirement that he be neutered was irresponsible.

I don't know if you are looking for help/ideas for things to do to try to keep him or if you are just wanting to get rid of him period. Go on pet finder.com, search for Maine Coon in your area and contact a breed specific rescue, they may be your best bet right now.

Good luck.

You should take him to the vet, just to make sure everything's ok with his health.

He's a pure bred Maine Coon, maybe if you called the people you bought him from, they'd be willing to take him back?

Hopefully everything is ok with him If you do give him away, I hope he goes to a good home

Hi, Gorgeous, gorgeous kitty!
the others are right.... for a Maine Coon, he is way, way too skinny.... He has some pounds to gain to be at a healthy weight... Also, he is probably screaming like this because of hormones, on the top of the fact that he can't hear himself because he is deaf.
There is nothing wrong genetically with him - he is a White cat with both blue eyes, which are, in a lot (lot) of cases, deaf. In white cats with one blue eye, you usually have a cat with the respective ear deaf, but since he has both eyes blue, well.... he is completely deaf - that is not rare at all.

Also, since he is purebred, you probably got him from a breeder? Read your contract - there is most likely a paragraph in there where you are supposed to return the kitty to the breeder in case you can no longer take care of him. A good/reputable breeder will take him back - that is your best bet IMHO. Although I come to think a good breeder wouldn't sell and intact cat....
Anyways, I would contact the breeder if you got him from a reputable breeder first. If not, look up a Maine Coon rescue in your area - you will have no problem handing that sweet boy over to them

OH MY GOSH he is the most gorgeous boy . He is stunning. WOW!! I also agree that he looks under weight . Also, the howling most definitely is being compounded by him not being neutered. I know you said he was talkative when you first brought him home. I really think neutering him will help calm him a bit. There is so much that can be done for this beautiful boy. I would definitely do a full blood work-up on him at the vet. Does he spray? (I assume so, being unaltered ) Is he an indoor only cat? If he does spray, this could be a problem for someone just wanting him as a pet (which he SO deserves). Even after neutering, they can still retain this spraying behavior, unfortunately.

Much luck to this handsome boy
