So I've noticed that since yesterday Annie's meow sounds markedly different. She has always had a very high pitch, clear meow, but since yesterday it seems deeper and slightly gravely. There appear to be no other changes in her health - she eats, sleeps and drinks as usual, everything in her litter box looks normal, and there is nothing coming out of her eyes or nose. She is much more active recently since we released our new 6 month old kitten from seclusion into the main house and they run and wrestle all the time. I am mainly concerned because the kitten had a mild URI and I worry that even though they were apart that somehow Annie may have caught it. Should I be concerned or are changes in meows considered normal?

I found the text in this book spot on, but the illustrations aren't helpful at all. Good over all book

This mat caught my eye because of its size and texture, which traps fine litter rather well. It's large enough for jumbo litterboxes, which is also a plus. It's not quite as easy to clean as a...

This scoop was a freebie with some clumping litter I bought last year, and I like it so much that I've bought a second one. It's perfect for fine clumping litter, which it sifts very thoroughly....

In this situation this very basic but good advice applies

I believe it would be a good idea to call your vet for advice. Especially because you have a kitten that had a mild URI.

Interesting, I hadn't even thought of laryngitis, but it makes sense. It also made me remember that for the first few days of introduction to the kitten she hissed practically non-stop, so maybe her throat got raw from all of the hissing?

Well, I wonder. Constant meowing can definitely cause loss of voice but I'm not sure about hissing. Never thought of hissing as a possible cause. Your vet would know.
