Senior exam for Riley

Thread Starter
Have to take Riley in for a senior exam on Monday. DH and I noticed he's losing weight since his last exam about 6 months ago. He's almost 14 now. Where does the time go?

But, he's been mewing at us incessantly, his appetite is off the charts and he can't seem to settle down very well. I think he's got arthritis and my fingers are crossed the weight loss is due to age. We can't go through what we just went through with Cleo again just yet.

I know - where do the days go? Best wishes that whatever may be troubling Riley is quickly diagnosed and easily treated.

I am just giving you my , I would get his thyroid tested. Since I am guessing what you mean by "his appetite is off the charts" means he is constantly hungry. Is that correct ?

Since constant hunger and weight loss along with getting older can lead a cat to develop hyperthyroid issues. I have had a personal cat many years ago develop the disorder along with older fosters.

But with proper medication all the cat(s) I have owned/worked with that had hyperthyroid issues all lived "normal lives", once on the correct medication and dosage.
