Hello i'm new here.
So my kitty started slobbering alot last week. I took her to the vet Wed. night. She said its a tumor under her tongue. Its better that its on the soft tissue instead of on her gum. So monday i take her to see the doc that does the laser surgery. He needs to see it to make sure he can do it. Surgery would be tuesday. This all has my so frustrated. My husbands working out of town so i'm relying on others to take her and get her home. I asked the receptionist questions and she doesn't know much. She says talk to the doc about that monday. I might have to pay extra monday to leave her there for surgery. That way i don't have to ask someone to take us back over. I hope the doc on monday says he can do it. The 1st doc she saw said its the size of a marble. She'd do it but hasn't learned the laser surgery yet and works evenings. I was told it'll most likely come back but it could be 6 months, 1 year or 2. I'm opting for a biopsy so i know about how much time we have together. I just want to scream! I was wondering if anyone else here has been through this?

Oh I'm so sorry your hubby is out of town while this is happening.
Our kitty is fighting cancer. He has a mass in his stomach, but it was inoperable. He's getting chemotherapy, and doing really well, actually. He's had two months of treatment, and the tumor has shrunk 40%. But it's a lot of work and expensive He's eating on his own now, but we had to syringe feed him for some time, and it's weekly vet visits for him, and an ultrasound every month.

For us, it's been worth it, because he's fighting with us, and doing so well.

I hope you're able to get all your questions answered.
I also hope the vet understands your situation, and maybe gives you a break on boarding her overnight.

Sending lots of vibes for the tumor to be benign and a successful surgery!

So it looks like my husband will be working local. I won't have to feel so alone dealing with this. My husband and a friend made me feek better too. I hope the doc on monday gives the ok to work on her. If not i may go somewhere else to get a 2nd opinion.

My sister currently has a foster kitty with a tumor in her mouth. The vet told her that even with surgery, it will come back. These tumors are aggressive and spread to the bone fairly quickly. Less than 10% of cats are alive at the one year mark with this disease. There is no know effective chemotherapy treatment for this cancer.

I'm very sorry you are having to go through this. I know my sister elected not to have the surgery and is managing her cat's level of pain and discomfort. I do know the kitty is beginning to fade though.

I know you were coming here looking for hope, and there may be a lot of hope once you see the vet on Monday. All I know is from what I've read and the experience of my sister so that is very limited. I hope I am wrong and your kitty is spared this awful cancer.

Here is some information online:

I know and i'm trying to be prepared for whatever. I hope its not yet cancerous. We'll find all that out with the biopsy. Just buying a little more time. She's doing alright. Still eating and drinking. thanks for your input.

I had a cat that had a tumor in her mouth - the vet removed it and although it came back a couple of times requiring more minor surgeries, she lived another three years. I'm sure everything will work out perfect!

I am just SO sorry for the sad news.

Just love on her, spoil her even more than usual, and give her her favorite things to eat. She may surprise you!
