Strange behavior

So, due to loosing my job and Trixie being small for her age I have been unable to get her spayed and this week she went into heat, She is an indoors cat so there is no risk of her mating.

The strange behavior is coming from my 9 week old Pixie, since Trixie went into heat Pixie has been much more affectionate (she tries to groom me, which is adorable and something I have never had before from any cat) but she is also much more easily scared, since she came home she has been very adventurous, searching every nook and cranny playing with anything/anyone she can find, but in the last few days she has backed away from bottles with liquid moving in them, sudden and not so sudden movements. She has stopped trying to play with Trixie and instead clings to me and my boyfriend. Though she still sleeps with Trixie.

I am assuming that Trixie (uncomfortable and stressed from being in heat) has 'told' Pixie to leave her alone and now Pixie is very cautious.

On getting Trixie spayed I plan on doing it as soon as possible, she has been in heat before, shes 9 months old, but she has never seemed this uncomfortable, believe me if I had the money she would be spayed but since losing my job I had to choose between Trixie getting spayed and Pixie getting her vaccines.

Sorry for rambling I really just want to know what your opinion is, do you think it is because of Trixie being in heat or maybe something else that's spooked her, I just want to help my kitties feel as safe and comfortable as possible.

I can tell you that my neutered boy Tomu gets absolutely pissed off when my female Luna is in heat. I don't know why. He will just hiss and growl at her if he sees her (but has no problems eating or playing next to her). He did this also to another female who was visiting a stud here (and obviously was in heat). He could only see her through a glass door but it was enough to annoy him.

Maybe it's some hormone/pheromone/smell which makes some other cats feel uneasy about the one in heat? My other cats (neutered and intact males) are just fine with females in heat.

Ahh that makes sense, when Pixie came back from the vet Trixie was back to hissing at her because she smelt wrong (she had had the flea stuff put on) so it could be the wrong smell.

Thank you
